Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !

Hi all
Well, I've browsed topics over the last week but haven't had much internet access so haven't posted.
Returned today from 5 days away at the coast. I came down sick two days before we left and dh has been sick since and still isn't great. Despite our illness we had an enjoyable time away. I deliberately left my journal and any homework/reading from my counsellor at home so that I couldn't focus on anything to do with sexual abuse. I think it was a good decision.
We had some really fun times, including snorkelling yesterday (though I get motion sick from the up and down movement of the ocean, even on a calm day!) - need to try and work out what we found as well as I'm not sure it was an animal, probably part of a skeleton from something like a swordfish. I spent an awesome evening with our daughters yesterday and we just drove for ages through the bush and small townships, looking for any wildlife we could find. Saw so many rabbits, some possums, a fox, one wallaby, lots of kangaroos and some large fruit bats. The funniest thing was coming across a young couple in a car getting up to some awkward things (you get the picture). Our dds were able to see the humour in coming across them, how awkward the couple must have felt and how we couldn't seem to get out of there quickly enough. It is a good thing that they could laugh at the situation.
The girls had so much fun feeding the many rainbow lorikeets, playing games and spending time on the beaches. So often the girls and dh would comment about how normal our family now is and how the girls enjoy being part of the family (for many years our oldest daughter wished she lived in another family, but not anymore).
Now trying to catch up on washing and get back to things I have been avoiding. Catch up with you soon.

It sounds like a wonderful time, and just what you all needed...despite getting sick. So happy for you and your family that you were able to find some normalcy. Cherish those moments!

That's great that you were able to have an enjoyable week on the coast. I think my goal would be to go one day without thinking about the abuse and being worried about my children. It's consuming .... I haven't gone for professional help yet but do have an appointment for Monday.

Ozmum62, it was so good to read that you all had some good family time together! Thanks for taking me away with you for a moment. :)

Glad you have an appt., crushed mother. You need someone local who knows the whole story, and understands how to help you with the pain.
