This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !

Well, I've browsed topics over the last week but haven't had much internet access so haven't posted.
Returned today from 5 days away at the coast. I came down sick two days before we left and dh has been sick since and still isn't great. Despite our illness we had an enjoyable time away. I deliberately left my journal and any homework/reading from my counsellor at home so that I couldn't focus on anything to do with sexual abuse. I think it was a good decision.
We had some really fun times, including snorkelling yesterday (though I get motion sick from the up and down movement of the ocean, even on a calm day!) - need to try and work out what we found as well as I'm not sure it was an animal, probably part of a skeleton from something like a swordfish. I spent an awesome evening with our daughters yesterday and we just drove for ages through the bush and small townships, looking for any wildlife we could find. Saw so many rabbits, some possums, a fox, one wallaby, lots of kangaroos and some large fruit bats. The funniest thing was coming across a young couple in a car getting up to some awkward things (you get the picture). Our dds were able to see the humour in coming across them, how awkward the couple must have felt and how we couldn't seem to get out of there quickly enough. It is a good thing that they could laugh at the situation.
The girls had so much fun feeding the many rainbow lorikeets, playing games and spending time on the beaches. So often the girls and dh would comment about how normal our family now is and how the girls enjoy being part of the family (for many years our oldest daughter wished she lived in another family, but not anymore).
Now trying to catch up on washing and get back to things I have been avoiding. Catch up with you soon.

We will be holidaying in this area at Christmas time, which hopefully will be a fair bit warmer. The good thing about holidaying at this time of the year (this last week) is that the ocean has had all summer to warm up even though the days are becoming cool. Youngest dd will find any reason to get wet no matter what time of year it is! Oldest dd needs a thermal bath almost.
Still trying to work out what the weird object was that I found. The only thing that seems to come close is the nose of a saw fish or sword shark. We tried to actually pick it up but it was just that bit too deep.
Must admit that I don't want to get back into the routine of every day life. I keep trying to make little things to look forward to to break things up. I'm finding counselling really intense and challenging working on my own issues. The next trip away is the end of May which is to the Gold Coast for a weekend, but that is for an international dancing competition so will be pretty intense. If it wasn't in the middle of the school term I would take a few extra days and enjoy some down time. The next six months will be super busy with competitions for both girls in their sports with many weekends away, mostly to Sydney.
