Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
Have you called the national sexual assault hotline rainn.org, 800-656-HOPE You can call too, not just your daughter, and it's not just for immediate aftermath but anytime down the road. Have you gotten any counseling for yourself? That might be a good idea, to help you deal with your own emotions so you can be there for her, and also so you can learn more about what she's going through and how to help her. Maybe ask her counselor for a recommendation. Have you been in contact with the prosecutor's office, do they have any resources for victims and families? When my teen daughter reported an assault they considered me a secondary victim and we both qualified for free counseling.
Thank you for the reply. We are in contact with the prosecutors office and have been assigned an victims advocate. Last week was the preliminary hearing, and the defense moved that charges be dismissed, the judge agreed due to the fact the prosecution did not ascertain the age of the offender when the event occurred. The DA pointed out that the accused was arrested on a felony and you have to be 18 to charged with a felony (I am not a lawyer and trying to understand) the DA has filled an appeal which is pending. My daughter was devastated, it was hard enough being on the stand then this., Everyone in the court house when mention the case know about the offender (he has been there multiple times for the same offence) As a parent I am on an emotional roller coaster, trying to stay strong for my daughter. Right now she is distance learning due to COVID and the threats she is receiving. We have been told to keep track of all expenses so they can be submitted to a compensation fund, that means nothing to me. I want this person off the street and my daughter to be ok..
You are doing a great job of feeling your feelings, believing your daughter, and seeking to protect and standing up for your daughter.
