This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
My daughter makes her statement on Monday.I know we are not allowed in the room or to watch but I was wondering if my daughter discloses that more happened that she did not tell us about how do we know that? I mean as far as we know there was only fondling, threatening and locking her in the room,but if any penetration happened or if he made her touch him how would we find that out?I know this may sound strange but I would like to read her statement so I can know everything and deal with it and work through it.I am sort of a control freak which is why I feel the need to know everything.
I think your attorney would let you know if anything further came out. Maybe not until after the trial though. A question to ask him/her. When it is over, you can order transcripts from the trial. Each state costs differ. Ours is $.50 per page. It may not sound like a lot but after 3 days of trial we were looking at over $300 for the transcripts.
The courthouse clerk had very soft feelings for us having heard the general facts of the case and gave us the direct contact information for the court reporter. She was going to give it to us for $50. I decided not to do it. The knowledge I had of the events was upsetting enough to me and I couldn't handle knowing further information. Watching the news and hearting the abusers testimony was enough to push me over the edge.
I wish I could be there for you to hold your hand through this. It is very emotional and difficult. Your baby will be fine and even stronger for having done it, as will you. But it is a tall mountain to climb.
