Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
If your case is still open, then YES! Tell the detective any and every new piece of info. And your therapist ALSO SHOULD report it to CPS or the police. Our cps case worker said that even if the case is closed, if new details come out during therapy, they are reported and a new case could be opened, either cps investigation or police report depending on the severity.
As for new memories...my husband and I were talking and I don't want to overwhelm you but maybe just prepare you. We both think that it sounds like a lot more happened to your daughter then she's shared. Her response has been so traumatic, very much like my daughter and little son, that you need to not be shocked if more details come out. It took my daughter 5 months of nightly talks with me to share that she'd actually been raped, not just touched.
I'm SO glad to hear your daughter is getting to the point where she's remembering more! I am hoping my little guy gets there soon too. I also hope that you'll be able to start seeing some relief in her outlook on life as I have once my children get the memories out of their head! It really helps them start to calm down... :)
