Gosh, after what you've been through, you'd think you'd have all the answers, but...each case is different in its own way, and I think there's a reluctance to pull someone into the same kind of nightmare we have endured. So I understand your feeling of helplessness, in spite of your considerable expertise.

What a way for a fairy tale to end. Because we have been unable to report in a timely way, or to prosecute, I have no way of commenting on what should be your friend's procedural next steps, but I agree that something must be done to protect this child. I know others will have more practical advice, but I do want to urge your friend to dedicate about an hour to reading through the www.mosac.net site. It's so thorough, and covers, I think, every aspect the of parenting and legal considerations of child sexual abuse.

I'm sure this is frustrating and triggering for you, too, lusks1. Take care of yourself. I admire you for stepping back and seeking advice rather than jumping in with both fists. We'd all like to see that instant justice. Even if "nothing" happened (although we know this jerk crossed a big, shiny line), how could he do this to a woman and child knowing what they have been through already? Because he's a sociopath. I'm so sorry for your friend and her children.

Even though she has, sadly, been through this before, I recommend the www.mosac.net site. I was looking at it again the other day, and there's a lot I hadn't noticed when I first consulted it a couple of years ago. Emotions make it hard for so much new info to stick.

she needs to report it period. The police can decide what to do,from there. So sorry this is terrible.

That is terrible. That poor kid. I can't even imagine this, but I've read over and over that children who have been abused once are more likely to be targeted again. I agree, she needs to report it even if it doesn't go anywhere. She should take those notes with her when she reports too. My stomach is churning because you just cannot trust anyone. You think you know someone and you don't.

Well... You know Lusks1... You could call me Sgt of the "Report It!" Patrol on this site. At times, I've not withheld the punches and others have thought I'm too overpowering and without patience in the matter... That being said, you know my advice :-)
Sorry about your friend - yet I'm so happy for her that she was able to find out to be able to bring change sooner than later.

She has sent her children to a theme park with their dad on Saturday. Her current husband is going over on Saturday to pack his things. Her mom and sister will be there to make sure she is safe.

I am so angry and sick.
