Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
It does ease with time. Our daughter has been in counseling since the day after disclosure. I started going for myself about a month later. I had to in order to mentally survive this shit. This group has been wonderful-it is so nice to talk to someone who understands. Prayers, though, have been the biggest help for us. Not to be preachy or anything but God is the only one with the strength to pull us through.
What I learned after the initial shock wore off is that life goes on. We must still eat, sleep, work, take care of our families, ourselves, and each other. The laundry still awaits washing. And so I got up every morning and took care of what needed to be done. I found some comfort in these mundane tasks.
This experience has changed me profoundly as a human being. I no longer sweat the small stuff so much. I used to regularly get into physical confrontations-now I can barely think of putting my hands on another person in anger..even when they are just begging for a can of whup ass! I am so much stronger than I even imagined. My priorities have become crystal clear.
There are still days when I think I cannot go on but I must. And so do you. Take whatever works for you and run with it. On really bad days, only praying on my knees can get me through.
You can survive this and so can your daughter. Show her your strength. She too is strong. She told you at an early age and as hard as it is to know, it is a blessing. Your precious child has shown you her incredible strength. Lean on it to survive the next minute. Put one foot in front of the other and you will get to the other side.
O... my daughter is in counseling n loves it!!!! :)
