My husband and I made the decision late in the summer that we would look into moving out of the area. Our plan was to hopefully move away, but if that didn't work out, we were going to move out of our immediate area as our perp lives very close to us. Our goal was to job search, work on selling the house and probably end up moving in January. Sometimes plans work out better than we could imagine. My husband ended up getting a GREAT job about 4 hours away, and we sold the house (well, we are under contract with most contingencies taken care of) in about 45 days - so we are moving October 1 (the end of the 9 weeks for the kids). I still am waiting to hear about a potential job, but have given my notice, and if this job doesn't come through I will continue my search (shouldn't be hard to find something in my field). We are moving into an apartment temporarily, and will start out home search in January - and we are SO EXCITED about our new start. I think moving away will help my daughter deal with the division of our family (it won't seem so off since we aren't close). I met her with her new principal last week and absolutely loved her. We talked about abuse, her staff had just gone through training on the subject. She was already thinking about who would be the best teacher for our daughter (she doesn't respond well to firm correction), and stated that she wouldn't place her with the pregnant teacher so my daughter didn't have to go through any more changes than she already has. I have such a great feeling about this move. I came across something on facebook the other day that I thought was appropriate...sometimes the worst thing that happens to you can put you on a path to the best thing. My husband and I will both have better jobs with better opportunities, we are moving to an area that will offer more opportunity for the kids, and the area offers so much more than where we are currently! I think as we pulll out on October 1 I will feel a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders!

Congrats on the move and your husband's new job! How amazing this is for you to work out so well with your children's school schedule, his job, and the sale of your house! We are also trying to do this currently. We had a contract on our home but it fell through 2 weeks before closing. But, we have another offer and had inspections done Friday so we will see if it works out. The thought of starting fresh really gave me some positive feelings and something for our family to look forward to. We are in a similar situation where the schools will be better and there will be much more for our family to do when we move.

Congrats to you to rmbadger! I will keep you in my thoughts that everything works out with your house and you can move forward. I am so looking forward to a fresh start, we have sold so much out of our house, and decided we would truly make a fresh start when we get into a new house! I wish you much happiness in your new start!
