My daughter was an inner city school teacher. She was raped in high school and never recovered. Today she is a an addict/alcoholic working as a prostitute with anxiety, PTSD, mental health issues. I am saddened by her choices, but I know he can recover if only she can learn to accept help. It takes unconditional love and lots of it to get through this.

I have recently confirmed that my daughter has been prostituting herself. I have suspected it, but she confessed to me last night to my horror. Originally she would go to NY and work. She and I have a joint student account so I can see all of her transactions and have been tracking her that way for safety because she does not keep in touch with me when she goes. I would see hotel bookings and then large sums go in and out and then she would come home with cash, but she never actually would admit it to me when I hinted at it. Now I know she is going out locally because she confessed. I think she is using an app. I contacted the crisis hotline and the police for help but they say there is nothing they can do until she makes direct claims of self harm or to others. She blames me and accuses me that I have never loved her. She has refused to get a regular job, failed out of school and has no interest in life anymore. She used to be an outgoing athlete with plans to be a psychiatrist so that she could help others. She has a history of mental illness and abusive behavior to me and others in the family. We have been through many therapists since she was 7yrs. No matter how badly she treats me, as she will not receive any of my rational guidance and tells me to kill myself several times a week, I feel like my daughter is suicidal and self-destructive. I, too, feel like a failure and am having a very hard time functioning. I feel like this is close to losing a child. I feel like there is no one I can tell that will understand and I feel like anyone I tell professionally or not, cannot give me advice that makes me feel like I can do something to help.

I agree Msnwbrn. Talking about it to my family was so painful because all they would do is stare at me with shame and looks of complete disappointment in me. I call prayer lines a couple of times a year and it actually helps get me through my breakdowns. As far as help....I have called and researched and got nothing at all. I just want all of this to end. I want to call my daughter and enjoy a conversation with all the torment in my mind of what she is doing. She does not want to work either. I mention jobs to her and because of her felony she is having a really hard time finding something. I tell her it will take a lot of will power to let that money go and settle for 8,9,10 an hour but it will be legal and safe. She won't listen. Praying for all of you. I know it's not easy.
