I don't know what your son is in for, but it is not your fault. Spend time taking care of yourself. Write him letters to show you still care. Take deep, mindful breaths. He will be OK. I know it is not easy. Hopefully he will learn from his mistake. Be well.

Prayer always helps me... i pray for the strength to make it through the day and then everyday gets easier. What i realized was that in the beginning was that i was filled with guilt, shame and blame... but i realized that i did my job and raised him right and my son made a choice and prison was the consequence. be strong and know that it could be worst.... six months is a walk in the park..... my son received 11 years doubled and enhanced ending in 24 years 8 months.... so keep you head up and understand that it could be worst... prayerfully this will be a learning experience for him. peace and blessings.

Thank you. It's so difficult. I know he's done wrong and that he should be punished, however I also feel like I've been given a sentence

I can't tell you it gets better but sometimes you have better days. My son is 20 and looking at 8-10 years. Go see him 3 x's week. Some it's are good and some are not. I also brought lots of letters and send lots of pictures this helps. I'm hoping that this support group will help where I can just rattle on about my lost dreams or my deep shame for him and people will not judge. Honey we love our children and we are right there with hem even if they don't see that yet. You cry, throw things swear lay in bed and grieve. You will get up one day you will shower and eat and believe it or not you will even laugh.

Yes 6 mos is going to fly by. Have faith and pray. I have cried, wailed and just made myself miserable. Finally leveled myself out with some meds and supplements. B vitamins are great for mood. Don't blame yourself and pray for the change in him.

I feel your pain, I pray everyday my son will realize the pain he has put his family through. I know how you feel, I tell my son I mourn him ever day, that may seem harsh to some, but honestly I do. If you need a friend to talk to, I need one to.

Thank you everyone. I'm currently on sertaline tablets to chill me out. I've been off work for 4 weeks so far and off for a further 3 to go. My son has just called and he is being bullied. I feel so helpless. I just can't help him or protect him
