A group that tries to share with each other how they deal with being a good supporting parent of a prisoner and the unique problems that arise. What to share or not, how to deal with spouse of prisoner, ex-spouse of, children of prisoner which we may not see either anymore,so forth

I am SO freaking scared right now. My young adult son was recently arrested and probably won't be home anytime soon.

I just need some encouragement. This is all new to this family and I'm just destroyed as a mother. I haven eaten in days. I'm experiencing so many feelings right now which is so selfish because it's probably nothing compared to what my son is feeling and experiencing.

Is there anywhere to find local support groups? I can't turn to current friends who wouldn't understand. I have just a handful of family members who are supportive (for which I'm SO thankful) but it would be nice to have people who get this. Even some people on here would be great.

Hi , we are here for you , it has been 4 years my son has been in prison ,I couldn't stop crying ,I talked to counslers til I was blue in the face ,but no help , I needed this group , people that have been through this , I too have some understanding family , and that's great ,but I am still a broken mom, I still cry , I am devastated , maybe selfish ,but my son made a bad choice , so his family is crushed ,we as a whole family are broken , because ..his life is probably ruined forever ,because when he gets out he will be a s.o. I love him with all of my heart . And he had never been in trouble ,not even a parking ticket , high school grad ,college ,and a excellent job. A wonderful wife and child ..I'm sure he had some kind of breakdown ,from depression , so ,I think you will feel better hearing from the moms and family on this site ! Hugs Susie

Thank you Susie. Our situations sound so similar. My son literally had it all and had never been in trouble either. I'm so numb but I've got to pull it together for my other kids though. I break down at times. I wake up and realize this isn't some bad dream. Sigh.......

I feel the same. He was over charged while at college. I got a bad attorney and he was sent to jail for having a stolen Xbox remote control. The lawyer had him plea instead of fight it. He was blamed for all items stolen from dorm. His record is ruined for life and he is in jail. This has to be the worse day of my life.

I know how this feels. I have been dealing with my son's poor choices for a very long time. Just tell him you still love him and take care of yourself now. He will need you when he comes home.
