My heart hurts for you and your son. My son is 18 and will have his birthday next week in jail. He is facing life in prison. I will pray for your son and for you. I too believe that God is in control. Praying that God uses everything you and your son are going through to make you both stronger and that He uses all that you go through to help someone else.

I know how you feel we still don't know anything. I cry every day that God can bring him home. But the way things are going he isn't coming home for a long time. They keep putting off court and that is kills all of us. There are times when he can't call me for two weeks cause there phones are down. I know that he is getting more depressed when he can't call. So my heart goes out to you this isn't easy at all. Praying is the only way I know. Keep your head and stay strong. You got for your son. I ain't going to lie it's hard everyday.

Praying for your boys. Praying that they can have a peace in their hearts even behind bars. Praying that they will connect with people who will be an encouragement to them. Our son has only called twice and written a few letters and has been in jail since August. It is his choice. We remind him that he can call every day if he wants to. We just keep writing letters assuring him of our constant love. Praying for strength for you all.

Praying for you and your son. My 18 year old son was transferred to a prison less then a month ago. He was sentenced to 15 years to serve 8 years. He has been incarcerated since he was 17. This is still very hard for me and we are year into his sentence. I encourage you to pray constantly for him and yourself. Take one moment at a time.

I know exactly how you feel. I’m in the same boat, with little hope. My son is a repeat offender, and even moving out of state wouldn’t stop him going back and doing the same things. Now, at 18, he may be spending many years in prison. I feel so helpless and pained, but I do my best to be there for him, and pray for all of us in this situation. It helps to know we’re not alone.

Praying for you fellow moms of prisoners. Oh Lord, protect our boys and give them a desire to serve You. We pray that if they can’t be free on the outside, that they will be free on the inside. Oh Lord, give us all a peace that only you can give. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

I work with ex-0ffenders, and know how you feel about going to work each day. I feel traumatized all over again each time I hear a client talk about their experiences. It kind of helps me to believe that if I can’t help my son, I can give hope and compassion to others like him, and maybe someday someone will give him the same.

My son is going to get sentenced to 10 years with 85 percent that he will have to complete before he can get out. I'm at a loss with where do we go from here. The lawyer said that he could get out at 25 years old. But I don't think putting him in prison is going to do any good for him. He is only 18 yrs old and now he will be doing hard time for what he got himself into. But it's been a long 10 months it get here. And I don't know if he will make it through this.

I believe you will make it through this. Our son’s birthday was Friday and he is now 19 and facing life in prison. We have to trust God in each day for our son, us and the rest of our family. I don’t know how we could make it without Jesus giving us strength every day. Praying that you will have a peace and a strength only God can give.

My son just took a pled deal for 10 years for felony murder. Just because he was there when a violent crime took place at a time of burglary was done. This was his first time in trouble but it's like they didn't even care that he was a good kid and has been good since in the juvenile detention center. Has done nothing but be a good kid and the staff all love him and knows that he is a good kid. I feel that his attorney sold him out did help him at all. The lawyer let him talk with out getting something back in return. And the lawyer told us that the best it could get him. With evidence all came back on the other kid. I just do understand how that happens. He has done everything to help and they do this crap to him.I'm scared for my oldest son he had back issues and by the time he come out he might be in a wheelchair. And want be able to do anything himself. Just cause he made a bad decision.

I am so sorry, friend. Oh, all the bad decisions that we have made and we never know when they will come back to bite us. Life is so unfair. I don't understand either, but I truly believe that God is with us all if we allow him to be. Love and advocate for your son but don't do his time. Our son is looking at life and I can't imagine never having him free but believe that he can be free on the inside.

Hello all. I'm going through serious heartache as my son is facing some time because he insists to do things his way. This place of sadness is the worst. Along with prayer I'm also trying to figure out what physically I can do to help. Prayer has been constant for sure and I just read a previous poster's comments about what else can we do. It had a long list that looked something like this: send all kinds of clippings for them to read, articles, crosswords, pictures. Send those often. Stay informed about what courses they can take and fund them to help them stay busy and prepare to come out. Tell them under no circumstances do they borrow from anyone. Nothing, zero zilch. Tell them to learn to do without. Tell them not to lend either. EVER. Parents, do not get friendly with the staff instead write for information. Visit often. Bottom line, yes, pray however there are more physical things to add to your support which will ultimately help both you and them.

I’m a mom of a 21 year old who will be 22 soon. My heart hurts knowing he’s head to prison. How do I cope with this pain? I have other children as well. I feel it was selfish of my son to commit those crimes to leave his siblings and myself.
A have to find a coping mechanism to help me. Every time I have a thought of him going through the prison system I cry or my eyes water. I’ve noticed the changes within myself. I hurt this hurts. What am I to do. Praying for all of us!
