Hello, I'm new to the group. My son is serving 2 years and I'm looking for anyone to talk to that I understands. I live alone, I have very few people I can confide in. Everyone is so judgemental. Family members have turned there backs on my son and I both, I can't abandon my son, I just can't.

I know what you are going through. No matter what- he is still your son and he needs you. Don't give up.

Keep praying for your son. Keep him first. Others won't understand how it affects us as mothers. I can tell you this be very happy it's only 2 yrs. could be much much worse. I feel your pain. It's the hardest thing ever for me as well. Hang in there

Thank you both for your words Iif encouragement. This us my 10th time visiting this site today, looking for hope, for some kind of comfort. I'm lost, I can't functio. I haven't worked in 4 days, I shake this funk I'm in. Depression is a part of me and I feel so hopeless. I love my son and I want to be strong for him. I'm all he has. But when you don't know where to turn or what to do.

It is very hard just to function each day. I try to break it down day by day. Sometimes that is too hard so I have to take it hour by hour. Like if I can just get through this hour I can make it.

I am new, too. My son reported to jail tonight. He will likely do 2 years when all is said and done. I am scared, sad, relieved, depressed.... then all the way back to scared again. I really cant share this with my friends or family. I feel very alone.

I know how you guys are feeling. My son is locked up and I have had a hard time dealing with it all. I have been praying so much, I know the Lord hears these prayers. We have to be strong and trust in our faith. I have a hard time when I leave after visits with him. He is 18 (my youngest) and worries about me...I put on a brave face every time I talk to him. I keep reassuring him that this isn't forever. He is facing federal charges and it scares me. I will pray for you all, it's one of the hardest things a mom can be put through.

I know how you feel! No matter what age they are they still your children, I have unconditional love for my children. My 40 yr old Son is in prison awaiting presentencing, he made some really bad choices and is paying the price now. If I could I would rather suffer for him, I know that sounds silly but as long as they not happy I'm not. It's SO hard!

I have so much fear for my son. He's 34 years old. His earlier adult years he was a mess. Didn't hold a job, got married, had 2 kids he couldn't support, came back home and brought his family with him...he has put me through hell. He FINALLY straightened his life out, got a good job, bought a house, got married again...only been married for 7 months and was arrested for sexual battery, lewd and lascivious x 2, and 27 counts of child porn. Oh my God! How? Why? He is my youngest son. His older brother has made a career in the Marine Corp, his younger sister is a nurse. How does this happen? I just don't want to believe this! My heart is physically hurting. I feel like a zombie going through everyday routines. I feel guilty because I can, but my child is in a cage. I have a supportive family. I don't tell other people except a few close friends. I don't know if I can take it if he's convicted. But if he did those things he needs to be in prison. My mind goes everywhere. What did I miss? Was I not a good enough mother? Did I fail him?

Paulette, A dear friend of mine recovering in AA (Alcoholic Anonymous) shared the following... She had the "Best Parents" ever and went down the alcohol/drug addiction path. "It was not my parents fault at all. It was completely mine. My sister did not go down that path, I did, and I have no one to blame but myself." Her words have brought me some peace. Then a second AA family member said the same thing. /I've been searching every angle of how I did this or how I could have prevented our eldest son from doing this, but as was shared, he had free will and he acted alone. I hope these words bring you some peace. /A second helpful comment has been to use the word STOP. When we find ourselves going down the dark black rabbit hole tell ourselves STOP. I sometimes have to say this 25x before getting out of bed.

I'm new too. Tomorrow we start the trek to Pennsylvania, where on Tuesday my son will self surrender to federal prison. He's going to serve 33 months for selling drugs. I'm so sad. I can hardly breathe.....
