i came down to visit my 22 year old son who’s doing a 5 year sentence in bc maximum prison. I try to visit every weekend. 


Ifound out he’s being moved to Quebec in 6 weeks for stabbing someone. I don’t want to enable his behaviour but I dont see a gangbanger when I look at him. 


I see my baby my firstborn. The child who has faced so many adversities in his life and over come them. 


I am lost, no one will understand. My stomcyis hollow and I don’t know if I can bear to go on.

Hello! It’s never easy to see your child incarcerated. My son is facing life and I’m making it by the grace of God. Keep your head up s God has his way of dealing with his chosen.

It is hard to see our babies incarcerated, but they have made their choices. It is hard to love them, support them and care for them but not enable them. My son is also facing life and agree with MaMaRyan, that only Jesus can keep us going each day. Find people who love Jesus and will support you by being there for you. Don’t let his actions destroy you. Praying for your heart to be comforted and for your boy to turn around.

I believe in god but sometimes I have to ask myself...
where was he when my child was fight cancer, being bullied in school or was recruited into gang life? Where is he now when we are both so lost.
How? How do you keep going forward. If your child had a mental illness people are much more understanding but if your child commits s crime the secret we carry is heavy.

I so understand, my friend. Our son has mental illness from trauma before we adopted him. Of course, we are human and wonder where God has been through all of it. I am currently reading a great book by Luis Palau, entitled "Where Is God When Bad Things Happen". We live in such a fallen world, but God loves us so much. His love for me shores me up every day!
