Pray every single day....literally. That's what I have to do. I pray for my son and his safety, and I pray for strength. Some days I don't know how I make it, but some how I do. My son is 22, been in since he was 17 and has at least 15 more years to do. I won't lie and say it gets easier because at least for me it hasn't. It's no better now than the day he was arrested. You just become "used" to it. I find peace when I can (which is rare), I find the joy in our conversations. But a part of you is always missing. So you just have to be strong and keep pushing forward for you and your son. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thank you for your kind words. Still don't know what his sentence will be. The not knowing is hard as well but it kills me to think about it.

I am so sad for you. Our 18 year old son was arrested a few months ago for murder and other felony charges. He may be incarcerated for the rest of his life. Also, he won't have any contact with us. You asked the question how does a person get through this? ...We cannot do it alone! God has to be your strength! He has given my husband and I strength, comfort and peace where we should have none. I don't know where you stand with Jesus, but he is the only way to get through this. I have read two books recently that have really encouraged me that you might be interested in: When I Lay My Issac Down and A New Kind of Normal. Both are written by Carol Kent whose son is also serving a life sentence. carolkent.org
Praying God gives you peace only he can give and that your son will come to know Jesus and be free on the inside.

Faith I came on here to post about my son who was just sent to prison in Northern California but I saw your post and had to leave you a message of Hope 40 years ago on the 26th of this month my baby brother was sentenced to life now it has not been easy and everyday heart cries for my brother but he is alive and for that I would always be grateful

My son is facing a life sentence and I am making it through my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I’m on no type of drugs for anxiety or depression. He wakes me up to go to work daily and I have my kife health & strength. My son is almost finished the bible and is in good mental health because of it. Jesus is so good to help us go through this without being absolutely crazy with grief. We are so blessed!
Also, wanted to share an answer to prayer with you all. Our son wrote to us last week! Huge step for him. He is still guarded but wrote. Continuing to believe for a softening of his heart. Thank you all for your prayers.
