Parents of estranged adult children Community Group
One or more of our adult children walked out of our lives and never looked back.
23 years of hell and grief
Hello all, my name is Anne.
My story begins with my two children. I have a fantastic relationship with my son, but my daughter has always been rebellious. When she was 18 she fell pregnant unwed, which made me sad, but I told her she could still live with me as she didn't want to marry the father. She said some horrible things to me and moved out, and cut off contact almost completely. She asked me for help multiple times but always stopped contact immediately after I helped her. She barely let me see my own granddaughter! Even though my granddaughter spent some time with me when she was older, and even asked me to let her live with her (which I would have let her), eventually she started hating me too, I believe this was due to what my daughter was telling her about me.
When my daughter died of a drug overdose last year she had another daughter aged four, and my older granddaughter (then aged 22) got custody of her. She's a very busy woman so I tried to help her out by taking the 4 year old out and spending time with her. Eventually my oldest granddaughter lost her mind, telling me my youngest granddaugher didn't want to see me anymore and getting mad at me for just taking the little one to church a couple of times! She went as far as to force the little one to tell her psychologist and the police terrible things about me, and even filed a restraining order!
Then my middle granddaughter, my son's 17 year old daughter, went crazy too! I think because she had been spending time with the oldest granddaughter. She started cutting her arms, drinking, smoking marijuana (which I'm sure she got from the oldest granddaughter, as I know for a fact the oldest has a drug dealer, my friend from church told me her grandson found out), and she's been skipping school, having these terrible rages, and even accusing my son of horrible things. She got child services to take her away from my son and daughter-in-law and place her in my oldest granddaughter's custody. Now this girl is 23 and taking care of a 4 year old and 17 year old while working and doing university! How can this possibly be better than living with me or with my good, honest, kind son???
My oldest granddaughter's mind was poisoned against me by my mentally ill drug addicted daughter, and then she poisoned my other granddaughters' minds against me. If I didn't have my husband, my son and daughter-in-law, and my grandson I would be nothing! They even won't see me now my cancer has come back! I'm not sure if I'll ever see my dear granddaughters again!
I do hope you recover and try to pull yourself up to be with those who love you and want you in their lives.
