vyvanse and stomach ache

i started my 11 year old son on vyvanse for the first time yesterday. he has been diagnosed since third grade, but he was having such social issues and academic issues that even the social worker advised us on it. at home he is a great kid, such a nice boy, just driving everyone in school crazy. he cant control himself with his peers and becomes extremely annoying. anyway. it seemed to work beautifully. he loved being in control and not impulsive. the problem was the stomach pains. he took it with food in the morning, but i felt so bad for him with the stomach aches. any advise would be great. he is so happy to be on this medicine, i would hate for him to have to stop it.

I feel your pain. Both my children are on Vyvance and have the same problems. The stomach pain does get better after some time. Check with your son's doctor, he/she may have some advice. It does help to give your son some crackers or toast.. When my daughter gets bad stomach aches, my pediatrition suggested Tumms. Hope this helps!

what about tiredness. he said he is tired, but im not sure if he is just not used to it. its only been two days, and this is his first medication.

He probably is tired. One of the side effects of Vyvance is difficulty going to sleep. My son used to be awake till midnight. Both my kids take Melatonin about an hour before they go to sleep. Melatonin can be found in the vitamin section, it is a natural supplement. According to my kids doctor, the body produces melatonin naturally as a signal to the body that it is time to sleep. Check it out with your pediatrician.
