Well, I met with my son's doctor today about his medication (Biphentin) which was working pretty well for us except that he developed tics on the 20mg. We went back to the 15mg last week and the tics went down but they're still present (although fairly mild).

The doctor told me that because they are mild, it's ok for now to stay at the 15mg dose but to just watch him over the next month or so to see if they continue or if they get worse, because if so, we'll have to switch meds. He mentioned Strattera, which I don't know much about, just that it is a non-stimulant med and it is supposed to diminish the tic behaviour.

My biggest problem right now with all of this is that my son cannot swallow a pill. Seems like something that will come with time, but he is absolutely completely terrified of even trying it, and there's no way I can even convince him to try. He's terrified of choking.. so he won't even entertain the thought of it... in which case, I have a big decision to make - pull him off the meds altogether and go back to a lifetime of struggling for him... or weigh out the pros and cons and keep going with these tics... but then I have the worry of them worsening or him developing tourettes. :(

This is so hard.. my stomach is in knots and I can't stop crying. I wish our kids didn't have to go through this :(
