My son is almost 13 and was diagnosed with ADHD last May and Autism in Aug. We had been visiting the psychologist for 1.5 years before we got the ADHD diagnosis. We started seeing the psychologist because of his uncontrollable outbursts. They were totally over the top and not appropriate to the situation. For example he called me a bitch when I told him to get ready for church. Anyway in May he started on guanfacine and it was wonderful at keeping his mood swings within reason but made him super tired and he was napping for 3+ hours after school. If I’m being honest at first we were ok with the naps but it made him get behind on his homework and he complained about being tired all the time and said we were shitty parents for drugging him. So he stopped the guanfacine and the mood swings are in full motion again. Today when I wouldn’t pick him up at the bagel shop instead of school he said screw you I hate you and hung up on me. When I picked him up I calmly told him he can’t speak to me that way and he starts screaming how much he hates me, and that I hate him because he has autism and calls me names that I’m not willing to type etc. I pulled my car over and calmly told him to get out of the car and he could walk home if he was going to talk to me like that and he refused. I did not yell or curse but I did get out the car and called my husband who is out of town on business. My husband who has witnessed these outbursts and been the victim of the verbal abuse of our son told me to be the adult and get back in the car an drive our son home from school. FYI we live less than a mile away from the school. Does anyone else have a hard time accepting the verbal abuse of your kid and sucking it up and ignoring the behavior without bawling your eyes out and feeling like their spouse doesn’t empathize with them?

Good day to all.So let me explain why we're discussing this today. The problem is, if your system gets too many (as in produces too many) it's a non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) called Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia, and my husband was diagnosed in early 2018.Every monocloncal antibody or protein in your blood is essentially a blank, a slug, as they call coins that have been minted but not...

She started at a young age saying she was going to move out and would go pack a bag for grandmas. It's heartbreaking to see how miserable they are, and then it makes you feel like crap for not being able to deal with it. Once again, having a strong faith in God has helped me tremendously with how I handle her. I'm not saying I'm always perfect and that I always handle the situation perfectly, but none of us are perfect.
My daughter just got off guanfacine and is trying Risperdone. It makes her a little sleepy so we do 0.5 mg in the morning and then 0.5 mg after school. There are still outburst but they seem more controllable if that makes sense and not everyday.
I truly pray you find the right medication that will help your son. Has he tried Risperdone or Abilify? I might even suggest an anxiety medication like Buspirone.
When my son was much younger he would apologize but now that he's 13 (his bday was yesterday) he only apologizes when he wants something. For example a few hours after I posted my message he came to ask for a friend to spend the night the next night and I said I think you need to apologize for the mean things you were saying to me before you ask me for something. Duh. Anyway, I am so looking forward to hearing from the treatment coordinator and and getting him started on behavioral therapy with the autism diagnosis.
The psychiatrist changed his prescription from guanfacine to Kapvay and if the Kapvay side effects aren't tolerated he will try abilify for the mood swings and a stimulant for the adhd. Do you have experience with abilify?
