My eight-year-old boy, was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of five. He's been on Focalin XR since then. I guess I've always second-guessed the whole ADHD, because he was only five years old. The medicine does seem to help, in the first few hours. After that he still seems to have some struggles throughout the day. I'm not sure if those struggles are just basic eight-year-old boy struggles. I'm thinking of taking him off of the meds, being that it's summer time. There's also been times where he's got his medicine a little later in the morning due to sleepovers or spending the night with the grandparents. He seems to be fine those first few hours in the morning unmedicated. I can't help but wonder what a couple days without medicine would be like. I think of all the reasons why we chose medicine in the beginning, and I wasn't totally against it. He had struggles in the classroom, sitting in his seat, and keeping his hands to himself. If medicines what it takes for him to live a good life, and have the control to fit in in the classroom and with his friends, then I'll do it. But I guess my biggest fear is that one day, him thinking if people don't like me the way I am then sorry for them. I also share those believes, that people should like you for you. I'm torn with this I've been torn with it for three years I was just wondering if anybody else was in my shoes?
