Man I know its hard. All I can tell is get 504 or IEP and make them stick to it. The problems with the schools is that you can put what ever you want in the iep but it dosent mean they are going follow itt seems that they are real good at agreeing to things but their follow through not so good.

I totally understand your frustration. My son is 10, ADHD and possible ODD. He does not like his teacher, and after talking with her several times about my sons behavior in school, I can understand why he never wants to go. I feel that she singles him out and truely gets annoyed with his behavior. I cannot follow him to shcool and make sure he stays focused, or concentrates. I feel that she really is just getting tired of him. His hand writing is not the greatest, and he had a practice spelling test and had to write each word twice, for a total of 60 words. He worked really hard on this, and I thought he did great. He got to school and handed it to his teacher and she threw it in the garbage right in front of him and told him he had to re-do it because it was too messy. He came home in tears that day. He was so frustrated! He really tried his best, and his teacher just does not get that. Sometimes I feel guilty for sending him to school because he is just so misunderstood. He is a great kid, smart, funny, and just wants to be accepted.

Get him away from that teacher he will not teach him anything but to hate school. He is boy that needs alsot of support and tearing down. I know at times it just kills us to watch are kids suffer hsng in there

Thank you for your guys support. I feel so bad. They are just kids who need help. I agree about getting your poor son away fron the teacher just easier said then done. I tried to move my son to a different class. Didnt work. Instead he still has to deal with her. She gets upset with him because he writes a bit sloppy to get the work done but then when he writes neat and takes his time she gets upset because he is not done in time. She had him so stressed one day he went into an.emotional break down. It was bad. I cried for days because my poor son was hurt so bad. I have a 504 meeting next week. I can go on for hours how his teacher sets him apart. I feel there is so much of that now a days that something needs to change. Added training or something. There is nothing wrong with our kids they just need some extra help. I am considing cyber school for my son. Its bothering him so much he now hates it. My son loved school always wanted to prove what he can do and now its like he is giving up. He wont even try to do his work in class he prefers to get sent to office to do it. How sad. Hopefully things get better for all of us.

Can you report it to the Principal?? He definately won't learn anything with that teacher, as she has left a stale taste in his mouth. Isn't she there to teach, regardless of the issues with the child?? I struggled for 2 years with my son at a mainsteam school, although I had previously told the school the issues with my son before he started, they did nothing. It was totally exhausting & draining on me & my poor son was known as the "naughty" boy. Which in actual fact he wasn't naughty, he just wasn't getting the right support that he needed. I was lucky I got my son into a different school which catered for children with Addional Needs. So he goes to that school 2 days a week & now has a new home school (mainstream) that he goes to 3 days a week, which he loves. I believe once a bad incident happens to that child in that setting, they won't forget. My son is a different child because thank goodness he got the help & support he needed from this Special school & I will always be greatful for that. Every child is different in their own unique way. I have better luck with superintendent. He is great. He approved the 504 and never had an issue with it. In fact he gave really great suggestions and said as a reward for my son if he reaches certain goals he would have a special lunch with him. The pricipal is trying to help but is still protecting teacher. My son got in trouble again this past week and i was so upset that i left work and went to see principal. He saw me right away and he even adnitted when my son is in office he never has half the issues teacher does. I told him if i have to go through another year like this one i wont make it the whole. We only have 38 more days til summer. And may 2nd we our going to a new psy office. Hopefully over the summer we have a better handle on things. The guidence office did say they think his meds need adjusted or something because when she was watching over him a few days she noticed alot of his behaviors he couldnt help and like he didnt have any meds. So if thats the case hopefully this new office will fix that too

I feel you! End of year & teacher is still complaining about him not working when left to himself. I'm at my wits end & don't know what's left to do. My sons has a 504 plus attends private montessori school.... my last option is homeschool and I am NOT prepared for that... I KNOW I am not a candidate for homeschooling...

You all must read it. Our kids are just misunderstood. We need to recognize, nuture, inspire their true gifts so they can be brought to their full potential. Not isolated, criticized, and punished by teachers, then diagnosed and drugged by doctors.
This book has opened my eyes.
It has made perfect sense with my son and our family. Look at it.

skc0806- Glad to hear you got the 504 plan in place for next year. My son happens to have an IEP for reading so I have the other stuff covered but still find you need to keep communication with the teacher. I hope next year you get a better match. I will say I volunteer as much as possible at my kids school and do a bit extra for teachers knowing/hoping they will go the extra for my son. I do work full time, passed up other jobs knowing it wouldn't give me the flexibility I have now. I know my son is tough to have in class and appreciate their extra effort.
