Rocky: I may consider and all boys school for my son starting about his 9th grade year. I really like that the school that he's at is helping him with his work load and study habits. With public school pushing mandatory tests, it would seem a class that strictly deals with teaching students how to deal with work loads, study habits and organization would be very important. Our public school system doesn't do much thinking of its own yet they want higher standards.
Thank you for sharing rocky!
After dealing w public school in our county for only 1 yr (my oldesy & adhd son's kindergarten yr) we found adhd made him eligible for a scholarship to private school and put him in a montessori school. Thontessori method has been wonderful for his academics since mo. Lessons are hands on, not just sitting at a desk trying to absorb lectures. W the adhd he actually cannot sit and pay attention for any significant amount of time like traditional schools require. He has made wonderful strides in his academics and we are finally getting a handle on his impulse control and behaviors.
With the right teachers and environments our adhd children can soar!
Good luck w the future and I hope his great progress continues!
