My daughter had to use a very small dose of prozac at that age for her anger and running off. Then it stopped working and we had to put her on Risperdone at age 6. You really need to see a different doctor that is willing to try some meds on him. I hate giving my girls medication, but it was absolutely necessary in order for them to gain control and succeed in life. I hope you seek more medical help.

Reading your post is like going back in time. My son, now 7, presented us with the challenge of ADHD around 18 months (officially diagnosed at age 3) Having 3 other children I thought I knew how to "parent" this behavior out of him. After him being removed from his 3rd daycare, I knew I was in trouble (and incredibly ignorant) There are so many tips and tricks to share, but here's a basic rundown on what worked for us. First, you have to have a MASSIVE toolbox to pull from daily. I started with aromatherapy, dietary changes, behavior modification therapy and fidget tools (that he mostly threw at us in the beginning, but hang in there!) We created schedules for the day and structure for routine actions (first we do this, then we do this) We rewarded good behavior and pointed it out any chance we got, even simple small things. We created a safe space for the really bad blow ups. We began to look for the "why" as much as possible. My son used to run out of the house at 4am almost daily. The "why" was because he thought his dad had gone to work without a hug and he was going to find him and give him one. Once we had exhausted all natural means of therapy we did turn to medicine (age 5) The combination of natural and medicinal therapies have finally put us on a winning track. All of these ideas and suggestions are just tools. There will not be just one thing that will work for you. Watch for triggers, be consistent and most importantly, know that it gets better!
