new to group...looking for advise and support

Dont know where to start. But thank you to everyone in advance for caring enough to read this!!!! I am seeking some support and advise. I found this group this past weekend when i was searching for help. I spent almost the whole wekend in tears feeling like no one understands!! My son is 7 years old. So mich wonderful things about him but not too many people see it. All many of them see is a bad kid refusing to do things. Some poeple have told me i just say he has adhd as an excuse. Its not an excuse.for anuthing. I wish people could understand that its not always "i wont" but its "i cant". He just doesnt graps things normally. When he knows an answer in cass he shouts it out. He completes his work correctly faster then his class sonhe gets board waiting sobhe gets up and walks around. I have tried to explan over and over he cant just do what he wants but it dont help. He knows right and wrong. He cant stand change (good or bad). His dad married a wonderful woman and my son lobes her but once they got married and new house he acted out trible for a whole week non stop. Then the fits only calmed. He has a new baby sister who he loves but again started fits. I am beyond frustrated with the school. I can say the only teacher that i truely like was my son's kindergarden teacher....he was a blessing. Helped m so much. worked with my son every way possible. is now in 2nd grade. His teacher is nice but cant handle the extra work my son brings. She told me "too difficult' to constantly make sure he is on task all the time. I have a dr apt fri to re-eval him. He use t be on concerta 36 mg but it was wearing off betwe 1p-2p. Switched to adderall 10mg. He was doing go on adderall in aug but now it seems its not working all. He shouts out all the time. Wont stay in hisbseat. Takes for ever to line up in school. I have had notes home evryday and not one good. And heaven for bid if the school day routine is thrown off even a little. Then he gets really distracted and agrues even more and gets frustrated easily and acts out. Last friday he turned his chir over and agrued with almost everyone he talked to. Advice? Suggestion? on the school or medicine? So much to write because i been handling this on my own for so long. I am tired of feeling alone and lost and i know my son feeling lost too. Thinking about going back to concerta. I just want my charming boy back.

I want you to know that it does get better as they get older. My son had a terrible time in school until about grade 3 or 4 and that was because he had great teachers. Grade 5 was not good and so I changed him to a different school for grade 6 and 7. He is now in highschool in grade 8 and doing quite well. He is smart and we started the concerta about a year ago and he is on 54mg. We stop it on weekends and over the summer. Maybe it works because he is older and more mature. I cried a lot when he was younger, but not too much any more. Even his loving father doesn't quite get that sometimes he does things because he just can't help himself. Hang in there and be your child's advocate. I think when they grow up, they will only remember that we loved them and stood by them. They won't remember all the whacky stuff they did.

I so hope it will get better as he grows older. I cry alot too. One day I hope I can look back and laugh at some of it, but I think it will be a while.

I do hope one day him and i could laugh about it all. I also hope when he get older he know that i was doing everything in his best interest. I also have adhd. Not offically dx. But i know all the signs and looking back it all makes sence now. I have never been medicated. I was just had to adjust. My mom even admitted that if a dr had told her i had it she wouldnt of believed it. I wish in school i did have medicine or something to help. She is not fond of the adhd stuff. But because of me having it i do understand alot of what my son is feeling and going through. I just cant wait for the day that things to settle down. From this group i am learning how to cope. Also that our kids are normal they just have their own way of expression. I have felt so much better since i joined dispite the things some people say to me.
