Any advice?

So I went to my sons parent teacher conference last night. His teachers and I are at a loss. He is such a smart kid. Higher than average Lexile reading level, does well in math. But even on medicine he can’t stay focused in class without constant redirection. He’s in the 4th grade and they don’t have the time to do that. He takes forever even with the intervention teacher sitting with him to complete class work and tests. He gets extended time for test and it still isn’t enough. We are out of things to try. Idk how to help him move at a normal pace. Any ideas welcomed. And thank you for reading.

I have twin girls with ADHD and I have been through this with both at different times running out of ideas. I just wanted to tell you what my girls were on in case it helps. Both of my girls are on a supplement called L-Theanine (I buy it from Amazon called Enzymatic Therapy L-Theanine 100mg for $10.52 prime). It helps with relaxation w/o making you feel tired. It was recommended by our natural doctor so it safe for kids. There are other natural remedies that are a little more expensive that I haven't tried yet that my doctor also loves, Kavinace is the only one I can think of right now, you can get it on the website professional supplements - and it's safe for kids. Oh and GABA calm.

My girls are also on prescription meds too- one is on metadate and it really helps her, she is my total space cadet. The other one takes Amantadine in liquid form and it seems to keep her grounded enough for school and then she can take it again after school if needed, she could not handle metadate.

I would also recommend a stool test by a natural doc - I did one for my girls and found out some helpful information on going gluten free and cleaning our guts. I try to limit sugar as much as possible. You can also do a food sensitivity test and this is really helpful b/c we don't realize how much of our concentration can depend on how our body feels and my girls had a lot of food sensitivities including milk and eggs which is in almost everything.

Thank you so much that is all very helpful. My son is currently on Ritalin LA. And even with that he struggles to stay focused. I will definitely find a natural doc to have his stool test done and see what else I can do to help him be healthy and focus better

You're welcome. And you might try some natural supplements, I was surprised by how much they can help. I truly hope you get his focus under control. I know how hard it is and we just want our kids to be successful and not get behind or feel different.
