Hi again Ladies! I know there is a great deal of concern about maintaining safety on the net. I also know that one of the goals of this particular site is to help arrange ways we can be more realistically connected beyond merely typing on a "newfangled typewriter!" In order to achieve this goal, it will be necessary that we give-up our locations, not street addresses, but cities and states/provinces, (whatever called outside US.)

Cannot think we can do any serious planning for in -person support meeting unless can coordinate around where members are located.
So, again, please announce your city/state when you come on in reply to this post. I am really not kidding about hoping to have a few actual meetings planned and occuring within the next six months. It will take a great deal of TRUST amongst us, however. I can't go searching into everyone's profile; and some just list states. Please be a tad more forthcoming with your data if you will.

I am thinking about us holding three regional meetings within the next 3-6 months. There's one contingency on the East coast; one on the west coast; and there's my midwest friends.

Please help me with ideas for cities to meet up in. I found NYC a little rich for my blood.. if East were to meet, I would like to try Boston or Phillie or even D.C. area.?

What about you gals on the West and in Minn and WI??

All ideas are so very appreciated.

I'm in Minneapolis and able to travel.. I saw a post that might include a meet up of you In Las Vegas. I thought that made sense due to easier, cheaper cost of flights and almost free prime rib compared to Manhattan prices. I'm not a gambler but believe we could find enough affordable places to stay as well tromp around too in an almost surrealistic atmosphere, not unlike estrangement.. For instance; Perhaps a visit to Venice or Paris in Vegas could give us a few laughs. I'm game for meeting estranged parents. I need to feel as if I'm not alone, except on-line with all this. I think keeping costs affordable is imperative so as many as like can join but realistically understand it just isn't affordable for some at almost any level. It's a tough call. I agree meals together is one of the best ways to do this. I thought perhaps of renting a place via VRBO in Vegas and seeing if anyone would be interested in doing a cooking thing, wine whatever since the VRBO can be found and are often very affordable when done right and offer a kitchen in those apts. Just thoughts. Meals can be affordable in most major cities at nice places with ambience and some privacy. I think Manhattan and say SF may be an exception for that, though in SF where I used to run around we found many an affordable place for bunches of us to meet when none of us had much money. Anyway. Let me know when you plan to make another venture together, if you will. I'm retired. 65 and game for travel for my sanity..I need it and loved what one member said here about feeling like she was "looking through a rear view mirror after the Manhattan visit and seeing her estrangement behind her".. That sounds great!

Abiline, in line with your astute comments about cost being a prohibitive factor for some folks, would you be willing/able to research for us low-cost places to stay with low-cost, easy-to-access public transportation, around the Mid-west? I'd like to keep it both affordable and as local to one's broad geographic area.

I think there's some confusion.. I haven't scheduled anything in LV, except a personal trip in late December to see my BFF and perhaps a cousin who live there. However, you raise an interesting point: If anyone is interested in meeting me in LV right after Christmas I would be very open to discussing that possibility! My tenative dates of stay there are Dec 26-Jan1. I am seeking a hotel room right now for Dec 31, which is like trying to find gold in a coal mine. But my friend's son is in the hotel industry; so I have to pursue him a bit to see if he can come through for me. The whole trip is still tentative; I have to raise the money first.. and air fare is very high around these holidays.

In any event, thanks for your willingness to help plan a get-together. We have women in WI and MI. I would love to see you all get together somewhere that doesn't necessitate a long plane ride for some.

What cities are accessible and have good enough public transp running in/out to a local suburb so that women can stay outside the major city; where motel rooms are generally a bit cheaper????
