My 21 year old son has been living in Fl since Aug. 2017, in rehab, supported living, relapse, repeat and out of rehab since May. He was made to leave halfway house last month and has been finding places to stay since. He has a job which is mostly commission based. Last night he barraged me w how much he hates FL there’s nothing there for him, he’s all alone, etc. He wants to come home so he can save money and take care of his legal issues in his home state. Everything in me knows this is a terrible idea. Hi relapse in Feb was when he came home. I love my son desperately but living w him is never good for any of us. He sounds so depressed and lonely. I feel awful. Am I right to refuse him refuge? He needs to leave his current living situation by 12/1.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

That said, there are other options besides staying in Florida and living at home. If he's going to relapse, he can do that in Florida too.. You have a say in whether he can live in your home, but it's his decision what city to live in. You could help him find sober living or other solutions in your home town, but not in your house. You could help him find a job. That's supporting sobriety.
For my own son, I"m sure others with say it was enabling, but I did what I could live with and afford to do. We had to get him out of our house. I got as far as having his things packed and was ready to drop him off at a homeless shelter, but couldn't follow through. Instead, I set him up in an efficiency apartment and signed a one year lease under the condition that he start on Suboxone or methadone and get a job. Recovery has been slow, but effective. That was five years ago. He is still on Suboxone and tapering off. He had a series of part-time jobs followed by a full-time job for a year. Now he just quit the job and is in school. Was it a risk? Yes. We could have signed the lease and found ourselves stuck with the bill while he partied for a year. There were times we thought it was a mistake, especially during a long period of depression and unemployment. In the long run, though, it was the right choice for us.
I am speaking as a former addict myself. I hope for your sake, he is still sober but If he was kicked out of the halfway house, there is a reason for that. It's a red flag to me. We were great liars and knew how to get what we wanted so be fore warned!
I hope he straightens out and I hope you can find some peace.
God Bless
