I am glad to find this group as DS has helped me immensely over the years for different reasons. My son is 31 and about to go to jail for the first time. He has mental health issues now from using and does not know the court system at all. He was high when he got arrested and didnt even know he had to go for finger printing. He did have a lawyer through student services but now she has dropped him as he has not contacted her and has a failure to appear charge for no finger printing. I am so fed up and Ive tried so hard for almost 4 years to help him at a cost to me in many ways, not to mention financially. Now his life is going to change dramatically by either getting picked up by police or with luck he'll turn himself in. I have blocked him on my phone and it was very difficult. I can so relate to all parents that deal with this. Just want to mention there is an online Nar anon group that I go to regularly and they are very compassionate and helpful. If you need support form others with same problems and to work on your own feelings it's a great site. : )

My heart goes out to you. I understand this path as my son has been battling addiction for 10 years. In and out of jail, in and out of rehab, the whole deal. Today he's clean....far as I know....and that's all there is...today, this moment. You are in my prayers.

I am so sorry. Drugs SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! This is such a heartache for parents. The unknown is the worst and oh the worry. So sorry Teri:( I love you!

Thank you. I appreciate site your understanding. He almost went into trestment again. He came to my place to wait for admission which should be Sept 4. He used instead. I'm taking him to homeless shelter (again) tomorrow. There is only me to do it. It's definitely the hardest thing I've ever done.

Please post the online support group as I am finding it hard to find one. I am so sorry for what you are going through. I have dealt with addiction so much in my life. My moms, my sisters, my brothers and now my sons. I am at a loss now

Sorry I thought I was in Parents of Addicts group here.? DS has changed since I was regularly here. Let me know what to do differently...

My son is still using.iving on assistant in a housing place for the hard to house. His basic needs are covered at least. It's still very sad. Not a great place at all. I'm sure he's the youngest but its hard to tell. He's 33 now. Slim and ..well.. handsome. It's nice to be understood with our troubles, guilt we carry, and pain. I wish the best for us here caretakers or sorts; loving from a distance.

My son has a bench warrant now and refuses to turn himself in. He wont see his po, and is on felony probation. I am so scared for him and for our family. I am sorry you have no help with this. Please feel free to release on me if you need to. I don't have the answers but we are is this together.

Thank you I appreciate the comments. It is good to find others that understand what we go through. Being a parent..it tears a piece of us too. We have to make decisions we never thought we'd ever make with our adult kids. I saw my son yesterday and found a caring friend (old friend, and out of the blue).who want to try and help my son. I saw him clean ... for once .. and he spoke to my friend. I could see he was confused but I haven't heard him speak about his life so much before..in years. I'm hopeful and praying for him daily. I'm allowing hope to slide in a bit!
I hope your son turns himself in. My son went through courts but came out ok as he had no record. So far so good. All the best to you!
