A safe group for Mothers and Fathers of addicts, where we can share feelings, and ask for feedback.
I posted this under Families and friends of addicts but wanted to include it here also.
My wife's neice has a drug addiction and has caused alot of problems for the family by stealing money and meds. She has spent some time in jail for it but it hasn't stopped her from using.
Her mom was at the end of her rope and wrote to the tv show Intervention online and spoke about her daughter's chronic addiction. She is on probation and did not pass a court ordered drug test and will end up back in jail. The show's producers called her mom and told her to bring her daughter to the Portland jetport early this morning for an all expense paid trip to a treatment facility in Florida!
Although she flunked the drug test and is not allowed out of state, the show's producers intervened on her behalf. So she is on her way there now. I am including the link here for anyone who wants to try to get some help for their loved one.

This is a very socially proactive show and has won numerous emmy awards as a result! I haven't watched it in awhile but it usually comes on monday nights at 9 pm. I am not trying to promote this show but I think anyone who helps an addict deserves some recognition.

Sometimes I can watch, sometimes I can't, depending on how strong I feel, etc, any number of factors. But I am glad the show has been on so many years now and that they are doing good thing without tooting their horn about it.
