Parenting With Mental Illness Community Group
This group is for parents that struggle with all types of mental illness.

Every parent wants to give their children a memorable summer vacation with lots of fun quality time. I hate to admit it, but my symptoms are more severe and my stress level is higher with both kids at home. I work 2/3 days a week and work is like a break right now.
I think with us, parenting is harder than usual, and especially if you're a stay at home mom/dad, the 24/7 kids thing can be stressful and make it harder to deal with our illness. But then again, the schedule might be more relaxed; no more after school commitments, no lunches to pack, homework, etc.
Do you find summer vacation easier or harder? What do you do about it if its harder for you?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
I bought him a bike but it's still in the box because he's not even excited for me to take it out. Plus I have a feeling he won't want to ride it since he doesn't really want to do much of anything but watch his shows, which I think I said before is my fault *sigh*
Before he got out I signed us up at our local Y so he'd have something to do with his own little people, but all he wants to do is be a homebody. I'm beating myself up inside because I think/feel it's all my fault because I'm always on my laptop (I do online surveys for extra income) or cleaning something and what can I say I haven't had cable in 7 years so I'm remembering why I love Lifetime and everything lol!
He even hates going out to go to the grocery store. I hate taking him because after like 20 minutes he's repeating "I want to go home." So then BAM my anxiety shoots through the roof as I'm looking around me as people are looking at me, some laughing which I know it's not a mean laugh, but to me it just feels like, "ugh I'm failing at this mom thing again!"
So nope not feeling it's a good summer :(
Budgeting self-care time helped allot. I was blessed with a nice, little network of co-parents with whom I traded babysitting, etc. Keeping myself fit went a long way toward being a fit parent. I used allot of the self-care time to attend support group meetings and build my peer support network.
Stabilizing support, Sullen. Gregsbaby, too. Ya can't do more than the best you can with what you have to work with.
