get her something that wont be hard to take care of but wont die easly eather. we got our son a gekko and he love it. i do not like any thing that has fur. another good one is a turtel they are really easy to take care of and feed. but if you do not want any animals tell her that there are lots of animals at the zoo that would love to see her.

We have three dogs and my kids totally adore them. But I have to be honest with you, once All These Dogs Go to Heaven... that will be all. It's tough taking care of kids AND dogs!

My oldest son always had a pet of some type. We've had Lizards. A pet duck (yes, a duck). Hamsters, (they are cute and cuddly and not too terribly hard to care for). And we've even had rats, which believe it or not, make great pets.

You could also take your daughter on the weekends to help walk the dogs at some of the kennels (or volunteer for some type of animal charity program).

Or, we could even send our dogs over to your house for a mini-vacation. Just let me know, I'll have them over in about 5 minutes.

Just keep telling her no. Sometimes it seems like a child this age will not get over something but they do. My daughter wanted a horse for a long time and we took her to a local stable and let her ride one and that got it out of her system. We also bought her a fish last year when she kept saying she wanted one and she no longer pays attention to it and it's become MY pet. LOL! Kids go through phases anyway. I wouldn't stress over saying no to her.

Oh and I forgot to mention that one time last year I took my 4 yr old to the local animal shelter a few times to let her look at the dogs and cats. She kept saying she wanted a dog or cat of her own and I tried to atleast let her be around a few. I told her the ones at the animal shelter were someone else's and we could just go visit them and she loved that idea!
