I have been unsuccessfully trying to introduce Connor to the potty. He has the general idea, but he will sit there and do nothing. He prefers to stand because he goes to the potty with his Daddy. But, he will still just stand there and do nothing. He even "shakes" it when his Daddy does. (Probably TMI, but we are all adults here) But, he just won't do anything. He waits till he gets his diaper back on and pees then.
Well, I talked to my Granny last week on the phone and we got on the subject of Connor's potty training. Finally she told me what to do. She said she was able to get my uncles potty trained within a week. Well, I finally did what she said yesterday. I went and bought some size 2T boy underwear. He wore them about 4 or 5 hours yesterday and had two accidents. The first time, he let me know he had to go and took off to the potty. I came running in there with him and he had already started in his underwear. So, I got his underwear off and let him finish on the potty!!! He pooped in the potty the first time!!!! Yay!
The second accident, I had went outside with my husband to smoke a cigarette (we don't smoke in the house) and my Dad was keeping an eye on the kids for a few minutes. Dad hollered at me and I came in and saw that Connor was walking toward me from the bathroom and he had poop on him. (He was trying to show me what he did). So, I went into the bathroom and the potty chair was sitting on the toilet, but it was just balanced there cause Connor couldn't get it snapped in place. But, he still went a little more in the potty!!
Just now he started toward the potty. I put him on it and he wouldn't do anything. I am checking him about every 15-20 minutes, taking him to the potty. And, everytime he acts like he is about to go, I take him. He is doing so good!! I am so proud of him. He is staying dry mostly. I think alot of it is just performance anxiety. I think he gets nervous because everybody in the house wants to see him potty because they are so proud! LOL I know that is weird. But, I usually take him in there, and then my husband sometimes comes to help. Then, our 5 year old son is constantly trying to help and tell him what to do and clap for him and stuff. It is cute but I think it has made Connor a little shy!! Well, wish Connor luck and me as well!!
