1YR old what type of vocab should she have
Michelle5
just wondering what other 1 yr olds are saying or how many words do they say. my little one seems to get on a roll with saying things and then will start only saying one word over and over again. She has said I love you which you could understand but now she has went back to saying little words ike hi and mamma. First time mom concerns i guess

I'm trying to remember.....but I think at his 12 month check up the dr wanted to know if he knew only 10 words...which he was way above that.....he's 21 months now....but I think at 12-14 months he was at mama, doggie, Pa (my dad), Binky (his best friend still), tickle, wiggles, diego (but he's still missing the D...lol)

There's a huge range of normal. My oldest was talking in sentences at a year, but my second son didn't use sentences until WELL after age 2 - they are both school age now, and there is no difference in their speaking abilities now. My youngest is 13 months and says a lot, but we can only understand a few things. My favorite is "wudad" (what's that).

my son just turned a year old a few weeks ago. He has sounds that mean certain things, but no intelligible words. Both my others were the same and wont stop talking now.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Children learn at their own rate so there is a wide range of "normal". My daughter wasn't much of a talker at 1, but now at 2, she blabs nonstop with a couple handfulls of real words mixed in.

If you happen to have any time to read.. a few good books are Supernanny and what to expect when expecting.. up to toddler stage.. etc.. any type of those books also notifiy what is /not normal.. at 12 months or so they like to focus on a few words at a time they say and repeat over and over.. then they move on to the next.. I remember when Noah my son who is going to be 2 in march.. he would say some really complicated words then stop saying them all together and start saying hi and bye all the time again.. its just a phase.. its language skills they are hearing themselves over and over again! :)

My son is 17 months and he has his own language that none of us understand!! He talks A LOT but we can't make sense of much of it. He knows the words Mama, Dada, Barney (yes that purple dinosaur!!), Bye-Bye, Papa, Ning-Ning. But my dr told me that him being able to understand commands is important. If I tell him to go get blanket, he does it! We know he'll eventually say more words, until then we are trying to translate this baby talk!
