My son has also stolen money from my husband and I. We have caught him in the act. There is nothing we would not give our son if he truly needed it, including money. He has no reason to steal. We disciplined him and lectured him when his stealing occured. It is hard to imagine that ones own child would feel the need to take something without asking, but I am not hiding my son's faults. That would do him no good. Recently, he opened doors to cars and stole 2 GPS units. He was asked by a police officer later where he got them and he admitted he stole them. He spent the night in jail and faces petty thieft charges. I'm glad he was honest in his answer, but ashamed that he felt the thrill of stealing.
I cannot imagine my daughter calling me names! I am not stable enough for that. My daughter called me a jerk once. Next thing I know I was choking her on her bedroom floor. She called herself "telling on me" to her counselor and I told them both that I love my daughter but there are some things I cannot handle and calling me out of my name is one of them!! I am so not "ok".
