My son is 18 years old, just graduated from high school and it seems like he spends all of his time in his room. It is driving me nuts, it is 2 pm and he has not even gotten dressed.

Is he going on to college? Have a job lined up?

I'd give him two weeks. If he's got college lined up for the fall, I would let it slide. If he's got nothing set up yet, I'd set up expectations. Job hunt so many hours a day, and volunteer so many hours a day. (If nothing else, the volunteering will give him a reason to get up, and give him something to put on a resume.)

since writing this he has sent out the ten bucks along with the application to renew his drivers permit and he has a job interview on Monday so we are getting some where. He has some money in the bank, not a lot but we have told him he is going to start paying for his cell phone starting next month job or no job. And in once he gets his license he will be paying for his portion of the car insurance.

My son stays in his room alot too, and sleeps all the time. I have asked him if he is on heroine, but he denies. I just do not understand how he can sleep this much!

Do you a reason to suspect heroin besides the fact that he is sleeping a lot? when he is out of his room does he appear to be high?

Groggy yes. He does not appear to be high, but then again, I am not sure what someone on heroin looks like.

I have only ever seen one person high on heroin and he was sweating profusely and his pupils were like pin points. It was pretty obvious that this person was really messed up to me. How old is your son? Does he work?

He is 18 and finishing his last year of high school, no job.

If he is on heroin he will be itchy and you can tell by his eyes like someone said before, pin eyes. Sweating could be from withdrawals. Take him on a road trip for 3 days and see if he goes through withdrawals.
