I have the same rules that friends can't come over unless the house is tidy. And two sleep overs in a weekend never happens at my house. My son needs to pick one friend per weekend. The other weekend night is family. It's about balance and picking priorities.
You are not a bad parent. Is it tough to do it yourself and you don't have a partner to bounce the issues around with. Cut yourself some slack and know it is probably hormones making things so "bad" for her. She probably felt out of control.
I hope things are mucch better when you get to reconnect with her later today.
I agree with the person who said you need to pick your battles but in this case I really think you need to stand firm. Sounds like your daughter really wanted to go to that school and even though you aren't quite able to afford it you moved anyway. Before the move she agreed to "keep the place tidy and clean". She is 15 years old and more than capable of keeping up her end of the bargain. Since you are only expecting her to straighten and organize her own room I don't feel you are asking too much. The main reason I feel you need to stand firm is because I personally have never allowed my kids to tell me what they were and weren't going to do. When my daughter was that age I would remind her that she was going to be an adult soon and that if she gave her word she would be expected to keep it.
I don't feel you are a bad parent but a good one wanting to see your daughter turn out to be a decent young lady. I hope everything turns out well for you.
Freshy - I am so very sorry to hear about your parents, that is as sad a story as I've heard Are you doing OK? Do you have other relatives to live with? My heart and prayers go out to you.
