Parenting Teenagers (12-18) Support Group
This community is focused on the joys, challenges and concerns faced by parents of teenagers (12 to 18 year olds). The major areas of child development include: physical development, perception and sensory development, communication and language development, cognitive development, emotional development and social development.
If it's your issue, a checkup from your doctor may be the place to start (thyroid and all sorts of issues can make people worry), if it's more than that some counseling or support might help.
If it's him... Is he doing anything new? New friends? What's he saying?
If you're not sure if it's you or him...have you talked to his teachers? How are his grades? A quick call to the guidance office may either tell you that you need to intervene or that he's doing fine.
I think I have the tendency to worry too much! His dad says that is because i care so much about him. I see older friends, and I see them constantly worrying about their older kids, too. I guess is part of bieng a parent. '
Patti, I tried to work it out through meditation, and exercise and try to keep it cool. I think it is my issue not his. I just want him to be happy. And for the most part he is... but I cant' stop myself from worrying...
I'm NOT a worrier, and even I find this teenager thing to be a challenge. I want my baby back, but then I want him to do his homework, but then I want him to have friends and be happy in life....
My son is 15 too, and the only reason I know much about him is from overhearing what he talks to his sister about. He'd rather spend hours texting his friends.
