Parenting Teenagers (12-18) Support Group
This community is focused on the joys, challenges and concerns faced by parents of teenagers (12 to 18 year olds). The major areas of child development include: physical development, perception and sensory development, communication and language development, cognitive development, emotional development and social development.
1.) Do you have a friend who happens to be a cop? If so, maybe they can 'pick' the truant up and read her the riot act - or come over to have a frank discussion - less likely to get the eye roll and other disrespectful behavior you are probably getting.
2.) When my son was suspended from school, I had to leave work to 'babysit' him. I charged him my daily pay rate for the day(s). He made sure not to get suspended again....
3.) Take away all privileges - especially the phone. Tell her that attendance at school is mandatory and she will not get her phone back until she attends, and stays, in school.
4.)If you get cited by the authorities for your child's truancy, make her pay for it.....
