I'd like to say I too felt my dd and her daddy didn't have such a close relationship which resulted in her not taking him seriously when he was disciplining her, trying to get her attention or her developing a trust in him. Its really up to him and his efforts to build the gap... You can encourage and give him pointers such as suggesting he share an activity you know she loves and letting him know you'll be bowing out of it to give them an opportunity to bond. Since she's a toddler it could be as simple as him getting down to her level and playing dollies or a game you know she loves. By using fun activities to develop their relationship it will start their bonding on a positive note. If she resists then let her know this is Jordan- Daddy time and you will see her in 10 min, after snack etc. Also another easy way to help them bond is for him to take on fun tasks that help her feel taken cared of like feeding her snack, giving her a bath etc. At first you can ease them into it by tagging along and showing them how proud of their efforts you are. Again if she resists you can help calm her and explain that daddy is special and he's very capable, you have all the confidence in him and are happy to see them spending time together. I am personally very transparent with my dd and husband and can say my dd and husband are very close now (she's 5 so its been a journey but worth it.) They have their own nicnames for each other and is always looking forward to the nighttime routine he's apart of. :) wishing you the best of luck...and know that it gets easier :)
I appreciate and totally agree with everything you said! My husband is such a good man and really a great dad, I just want to do what I can as a mom and wife to help them have as healthy and connected a relationship as possible because we only get one try at this parenting thing!!! Thanks!
