OK so DH and I have decided to try for #2 given that it took us 4 years the first time around. i was wondering if anyone on here had tried the sheffler method (it is supposed to increase the chance of a girl w/o anything other than timing), just curious if it had been tried and if it had worked.

My mom swears by it. She had 5 boys and then tried it and got ME :).

I read the book and tried it, but I needed much help getting preggo and had to do IVF five times. Needless to say I don't have any input on the book, but wanted to say I'd read it and it sounds logical. Good luck to you!

The Sheffler Method is just about timing. The theory is that male sperm are faster, but also die faster...female sperm swim slower, but live longer. So if you have sex up until 4 or 5 days before you ovulate and then stop you will be increasing your chance to have a female child, because any sperm left inside alive by the time you ovulate would be female. It isn't fool proof and it does decrease your chances of getting pregnant because you are limiting the amount of sperm inside at time of ovulation. We are going to try this for a few months and then go for just trying in general.

With both of my girls they were conceived 36-48 hours before I ovulated. I think it def works. Good luck!

I had read that a lot of babies born via IUI are boys due to the timing. Anyway my RE had us BD two days prior to our IUI/ovulation. I have TWO girls. Just sayin....:)

I have a friend who did this bc she had a girl and two boys and wanted two of each. She just found out yesterday she's having a girl so it worked!
