your doing all the write stuff here and she's RIGHT on track I think. My son also hates tummy time and flops like a fish sometimes. But sometimes, if he's on teh floor on his tummy, he'll hang out for quite a bit and get mad before finally flopping over. I think it's just a phase and she'll grow out of it.

ps - my son has a tummy mat that looks like a boogy board and has little water and fish in the top of it...so it's UNDER him, and squishy and he can push on it with his hand and see the fish move...he likes that....perhaps you should get one for your daughter if it helps.

Did you ever try a mirror? Beck hated tummy time unless we put a mirror on the floor. Even with the mirror tummy time was NEVER his favorite. He crawled by the time he was 6 months though---he is now 14 months and he runs everywhere!!!!

brayden hated being on his tummy. i didnt force doing tummy time with him. he found out that being on his tummy he can get around when he started with the army crawl around 6 months. brayden didnt start crawling, crawling until he was 10 months

hnelson, thanks for the recommendation. I feel like I have bought everything else so why not try a mat that has something squishy and fun to play with. I'm willing to try ANYTHING!!! kyspier, she does have a mirror that is attached to her play mat but I'm going move it to one of the areas in the house that has large full length mirrors to see if this does anything for her since she LOVES to look at herself. Maybe the one on the play mat is just too small. RSmith, thanks for the support in knowing that another little one didn't like tummy time but still learned to crawl. I WON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, WHEN THEY ARE READY THEY WILL BE READY. JUST KEEP PLACING HER/HE ON THE TUMMY THEN IF THEY ROLL OVER DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT AND DON'T KEEP ROLLING THEM BACK.

I totally agree with the others , Mikey hated tummy time and I worried about it but he army crawled by the time he was 9 months and is crawling and pulling himself up on everything at 11 months!

Just keep doing what you are doing, I had the surfboard mat with the fish in the water window and that would occupy him some. Or balls and roll them slightly out of reach, soon enough they will hate lying on their backs, Mine is 14 months and hate being on his back now and his always lying on his belly.

I have the same issue as Drex, just slightly different. My DD began rolling from tummy to back at about 4 1/2 months and has since completely stopped doing this. Now, she rolls from back to tummy but gets frustrated (almost panicky) that she cannot roll back to her tummy. Often, this wakes her up at night: she rolls from back to tummy and wakes up whining or groaning that she cannot flip back over. She cries if we put her on her tummy so I just don't know what to do to get her to like it. She loves sitting and standing with support (she's about to be 7 months), but tummy time is not good.

I have tried a mirror (only entertains her for a while) and toys (also only a short while), but within a few minutes, she's crying and flaring her arms and legs like a fish out of water.

Any of you experienced or know of someone who has a child that skipped crawling altogether? I wonder how common that is.
