Feeding your infant and ensuring they are getting enough nutrition is one of the most important aspects of parenting during that first year. This community is dedicated to those who are nurturing a baby, whether breastfed or formula-fed.
My daughter has had a rough month. Her six month shots left her with a nasty flu....and as that wavered she got an ear infection, an eye infection, and her first tooth is getting ready to come in so it's causing more grief.
We got her antibiotics, and homeopathic teething tablets. As well, she gets a ml of advil at bedtime on the doctors orders to reduce any inflammation in her ear so she will sleep. All these issues have caused a lapse in appetite too.
She has started eating food again, but not formula! That's an angst of mine, but not the doozy.
Lately she has become out of control. She will not sleep unless it is with me (I do not believe in co-sleeping, so I soothe her to sleep then put her in her own crib, where she sleeps for 30 min before she is screaming again) and she has to be within a foot of me all the time. If I am out of sight, or more than a foot away, she starts screaming.
It's a worse scream then I have ever heard her make. She get's more upset then she was when she had her needles, more upset then her monthly diabetes test, more upset then when she cracks herself in the face with a toy!
And it has to be me. If she wakes up crying and daddy goes into the room, the screams get more intense!
I'm going nuts. I haven't slept more then three hours a night in over a week. I haven't had a break from her at all! I even have to bathe, with her, in order to get myself clean. I can't do housework, because there is bending involved and I can't do it with 20lbs on my chest or back. Cooking is impossible because getting her near a stove means she will reach for the pots and it could be dangerous.
I just don't know what to do....I'm starting to snap at her and its not fair to her. Also, my fiancee bears the brunt of my furusterations, and its not fair to him either!

My son will be fine for my husband during the day and early evening, but as soon as it becomes closer and closer to bedtime the MONSTER comes out!!! Im not sure how to fix it but what we decided to do this and see if it works. When my husband is home and Im home also is to let my husband do the feedings...to let my son see that it is OK. (I also make sure to give my DH hugs and kisesin front of my son so he sees that I love Daddy too) Last night my son was PISSED off that I was in the room and not feeding him...but we didnt give in and it BROKE my heart. He kept looking at me with this look like SAVE ME MAMA!! But he was with his Daddy...they got throught the feeding and at about 1030 when I would have gotten home from work my husband finally gave him to me and he just sat in my arms smiling!!!! lol I ended up having to put the Baby Bjorn on to finish up my housework!!!!!
I wish I had some answers for you...maybe someone will have some for us...!!!! I hope you get some sleep soon!!!!!!!!!!
As for being with daddy and crying for mommy this happens now too (my son's 1 year old). The only way I found to deal with this is to leave. If I leave the room or the apartment the two of them get along really well.
