Parenting Newborns & Infants (0-1) Support Group
Feeding your infant and ensuring they are getting enough nutrition is one of the most important aspects of parenting during that first year. This community is dedicated to those who are nurturing a baby, whether breastfed or formula-fed.
I can't practice the CIO method with her that late at night as my fiancee has to be up at 6am for work. I have tried giving her a sippy cup of water instead and she will drink it then fuss until she gets her formula.
I'm at my wits end. Her nights have become a constant sleepless struggle for me. It seems she is regressing back and now she wants to cluster feed at 1am!
She's been doing this for about two weeks now. I just want to be able to cut out the night time bottle and get a decent nights sleep again!
ps - if that doesn't work, your fiance might have to bite the bullet and just deal with some crying at midnight for a few nights....i agree though, at your daughters age she's READY to go all night....the bottle is a habit I'm guessing.
She's on a sippy cup, so cutting the nipple won't work well. I'm working on trying the pacifier instead and it's worked twice in the past two weeks. I'm hoping if I keep at it it may sink in.
She is sort of phasing out the pacifier on her own though. The closer her tooth gets to coming in the less she want's that in her mouth. She chews on it occasionally but rarely sucks on it. She has actually started tongue sucking but that's a habit I want to break so we discourage it.
As for doctors saying "baby should do this" I learned to ignore it. Yes most babies do sleep through the night but there are still plenty that don't. My son's almost 14 months and is still up twice a night and I nurse him then. My friend's son is 3 and still wakes up at night. Not for milk but he wakes up and wants her attention.
Figure out what works best for YOU and do that. The rest of people (your DD, your fiancee) will have to adjust.
