In the US babies under 6 months can't get the regular flu shot or the H1N1 shot. I'm surprised to hear it's different in Canada. My daughter will be 6 months at the end of October, but she will not be getting either vaccination. All the adults who are regulars in her life (my partner, me and my mom) have all gotten the regular flu shot and will get the H1N1 as soon as we can. We feel we can better control her environment, who she is exposed to, what we bring home to her, than we can control any adverse reaction to the vaccines. We already stagger her regular vaccinations and don't want to add two more to the too-busy schedule any way. It's really up to you in terms of your comfort with the immunization and your circumstances.

My daughter is under 6 months and won't be able to get it... even if they did offer it here to babies under 6 months, I would probably not get it for her... their systems are just too little. The rest of my family (older kids, hubby and I) will get it though.

marlow has yet to have anyshots..she gets them at the end of this month..i don't know if they offer them to under 6 months in canada as this is my first kid. joey and i arent getting the shot...we think its being rushed too much. did you know that one of the leading drugs in the vaccination is directly linked to autism in children? that scared me out of it for good!

The others said it pretty well. The only thing you can do is make sure she gets her regular vaccinations on time.

My niece's doctor pressured her parents into making her get vaccinated almost a month ahead of schedule. It's only had negative effects, so I don't recommend taking this route.

If you and the husband do get vaccinated, take some precautions and make sure you're well stocked and prepared at home just in case someone gets sick. Best wishes to you and your family. xx

As the other explained you can't get the flu shots until they are 6 months & older. My BF and I will be getting the regular flu shot to try to keep her from getting it but I'm still not sure what I will be doing about the H1N1 flu shot. I'm also worried that it was rushed but I worry because my daughter goes to daycare and is around other children. There are many debates about the shots cauing autism. My friend whom is a nurse told me that the shots the kids are giving are safe but when they are administered together that is when they became unsafe for the kids.

My daughter is 5 and my son 7 weeks I will not be giving my daughter the h1n1 and my son cant have it I will not be giving it to me or my dh we feel that that flu shot has been mass manufactured and I do not feel it safe for my family I am pray that God keeps us safe from the H1N1 and the regular flu I get once and done with it. My daughter I am not getting her the regular flu shot either. She gets the stomache flu mostly like i do and its over for the year. I just dont trust it....

I am not getting it. YOu are bf, so that should help build up her immunity anyway. I am not getting it, though pregnant 5.5 mths, neither is my dh nor my 3 boys 2,4, and 6.

I feel that it is being rushed thru without proper testing. ANyway, I thought that babies under 6 mths could not get vaccinated?

I do plan on my child getting it once it is available as she does go to daycare and I can't control that environment. Plus, you can get a flu just by going to the grocery store. I also travel for work so being a plane is a total germ factory. I am pregnant again so I will also be getting it (as will my husband). I just got the regular flu shot yesterday due to my pregnancy. I normally don't get flu shots, but my doctors are pretty adamant about it when you are pregnant. I have several medical professionals in my family as well and have spoken to all of them and trust that the tests on the H1N1 vaccine have been performed to top standards.

I will not be getting any of my family members either of the vaccines. First I feel that they inject way to many things into the human body. Especially infants! I have nothing against the regualr immunizations but I seperate all of the out. I don't give more than one at a time. I feel the flu vaccine is not worth it cuz it only covers one strain of the flu, and you may never be exposed to that strain, so to me its not worth it. As the H1N1 goes, this was developed so fast and they are pushing it so hard that is is making people panic. I have talked to a few different Dr's and they feel it really isn't any different than the normal infuluenza. They have no clue how this immunization may affect people 5,10, or 20 years from now. There isn't enough research for me to justify giving this to anyone!!! I know everyone has there own opinions and that doesn't make anyone right or wrong. This is just my opinion.

If you or your children get the H1N1 or regular flu shot, I would be certain you are getting the thimerosal (mercury) free.
