Excessive Drooling....

I have an almost three month old daughter. For the last two weeks she drools so much!! She drenches her clothes and no matter how often I wipe her face her chin is starting to turn angry red.
How soon can babies teeth?? I don't feel anything. Or could there be another reason she drools so much...it's almost like she forgets to swallow sometimes. Is this just something some babies do?

Our son started teething around then, but didn't get his first tooth until he was 6 months. Now he is 10 months and still only has the bottom 2. His drooling still comes and goes, you will think he's going to get a tooth anyday, but we are still waiting. His pediatrician says he's cutting 4 on the top, but that's been almost 3 weeks ago. Teething is painful and can make your little one very uncomfortable. Good luck!

My daughter started drooling like crazy at about the same age... we would have to change her clothes like 3 times a day because they'd be soaked! Everyone said, oh she's teething early! Now at 6 1/2 months -- no teeth in sight yet. And she stopped drooling almost completely from about 5 months until about last week. Now she's drooling a lot again and acting fussy, so now I think she might be legitimately teething. I read somewhere that 2-3 months is when babies' saliva glands mature and that's why they start drooling so much then.

My son starting teething around 3-4 months and was a big-time drooly boy (still is!) He goes through bibs like they're going out of style... we just have him constantly wear one to save on laundry because the clothing changing was getting out of control. Ever see that episode of 'Malcolm in the Middle' where they have a baby drooling contest and the dads are all there with babies on their laps facing down and drooling into a cup to see who can drool the most? It's like that. :) He has 8 teeth now and I think he's working on #9. He's 9 months. As far as the skin thing, we got a really good lotion with vitamin e and aloe and use it on his face every time we change him. It's easy to remember to do it at that time and keeps his skin pretty clear.

My daughter started at 3 months too and the Dr. has checked and says that she is not teething but the Dr's tells me her son started at this age and his 1st tooth never dropped until he was 11 months old. UGH We go through 3 to 4 bibs a day and usually have to change her once a day because it goes through the bibs. Right now she is chewing on everything and anything she can get into her mouth IT'S NUTS!!! She chin is not breaking out so I'm lucky there but her cheeks are always bright red and chapped. Good luck everyone

My son started drooling at 3 months and he's a literal FAUCET of the stuff. We just keep changing his clothes/bibs/etc and figure he'll learn to swallow one of these days!
