My DD seems to have a super sensitive bum and always has little bumps. Our ped told us to use clotrimazole lotion (lotrimin) twice daily, barrier cream throughout the day (desitin, balmex, etc), and also to soak her in a baking soda bath 2-3 times a day for about a week. We filled the tub up so it was over her bum while sitting, then put 1/4 cup baking soda in, and let her soak about 10 minutes. It worked pretty well and took away the rash.....and it made her skin extremely soft. We also would let her "air out" and kept her diaper free a couple times a day, just so she wasn't constantly having a diaper up against her skin.

fanny cream seems to be a good one too.................or w my son it ended up not being diaper rash but fungus.....we used gentian violet.....it dyes them purple for a few days but worked like a charm....look it up on the internet. it was wonderful as long as you can get over your baby having a purple coochie for a few days!! LOL

When Lucas was getting a really bad rash we didnt use baby wipes. I would fill a little bowl with warm water and his baby soap and wipe his butt with a wash cloth. That seemed to really help to get all the bacteria off. If it was really bad then a bath to get him really clean. I would then use a little bit of baby powder to make sure he was completely dry.

If it is fungal you can ask you ped for a prescription. Ours gave us Nystatin ointment. It isnt purple...lol And it worked with in the 1st and 2nd application. We would wipe his butt with soapy water and wash cloth, slather on the ointment and then cake on triple paste over it every time we changed him...THe ointment was just for 2-3 times a day.

My SIL also reccomended using like a gynelotrimen or something like that....my other sil used it on my niece and it worked like a charm!! I havent tried that bc the ointment the dr gave worked great.

Is your daughter cutting any teeth maybe? Some of my nieces and nephews would get awful bleeding rashes whenever they would cut a tooth. Another niece was just so sensitive to poop she couldnt sit it in for more then 30 seconds without breaking out in a rash.

THE ONLY TIME my son gets diaper rash is when he's ACTUALLY getting a yeast infection on his bottom. It took me forever to figure that out. Apparently it's common in infants when they have any diet changes or are on any medications. So when my son gets a diaper rash, the pediatrician has us ALTERNATE using diaper cream, and Lotrimin ointment (athlete's foot stuff). THat usually clears it up within a day.

Maybe your little one has a bit of yeast in her's as well. The lotrimin is over the counter, safe, and can't hurt to try. In the meantime, I agree with the other ladies to avoid wipes, use warm wash clothes instead. You are doing everyting else just great though and I'm sure you'll figure this out too! GOOD LUCK.

have you asked your doctor if your little one has a case of ezcema ?

I can relate to this- My son had a diaper rash for 6 weeks!! I tried every cream/ortinment- nothing worked. I even treated myself and son for yeast infection and still it would not go away!! We also did baking soda sit baths 3 times a day and also didn't have him wear a diaper for 3 days- and it still would not go away!

Then a friend of min-recommended a cream that we could make- it is aquafour, eurcerien cream, A-D with zinc oxide- mix together with equal parts and you will see results!!

My little one has been struggling with diaper rash too. :( I've tried different diapers, (I think I like the pampers sensitive the best...they are so soft and cozy!) three different rash creams/ointments, talc free baby powder, and always try to make sure she airs out between diapers. I also make sure I change her within just a few minutes after she poops to minimize the exposure to her poor little bum. I can get the rash to clear up for a day or two, but then it comes back. In the last few days I've tried to be extra careful how long she sits in it, and always use A & D ointment on her bum, especially at night. It seems to be working so far! And when it starts flaring up again, I use the maximum strength Desitin cream. It takes several diaper changes, but it seems to help. I'm just hoping that if I continue to use the A & D with every diaper, it will keep the rash away completely. Definitely a trial and error thing, isn't it?

My daughter has never gotten a full fledged rash, because as soon as we see the starts we put corn starch in her diaper. lol. my MIL teases me about trying to make muffins, but the corn starch instantly absorbs any moisture off of the skin. Works like a charm for me everytime and its uber cheaper then a cream.

We also use the corn starch. Even use it on the folds in sophies next. She is such a chunk. But it works great. She has very sensitive skin. She doesn't tolerate any of the diaper rash ointment so I use bag balm on her bottom and it works great. Takes away the red irritation in a couple hours.

I also wanted to mention that if they are getting bumps more then rash it can be the scents in the diapers. My daughter breaks out with pampers. We use huggies for that reason. Just something to try.

Everyone's suggestions are really good! Every baby is different so it's really trial and error. Have you tried using larger diapers, like one size up. My daughter had horrible diaper rash and I tried EVERYTHING. I finally tried using a bigger diaper and along with the butt paste and within a day or so it was all cleared up!

The nystatin worked really well with my oldest. A&D worked amamzing with my 2nd. Most of the time slathering a thick layer of vasoline as soon as I saw a sign of red prevented it. I also use cornstarch, one reason it works is it helps restore the pH balance in the diaper. Another simple thing is using water with no soap at all to cleanse the area. Water is soothing and healing. My LO has a horrible bottom right now because dad was in charge of diaper duty for most of the weekend and didn't see the pink start and use preventative measures. I am so sad for my little guy, he has never cried over a dirty diaper until now! I'm trying to figure out what his bum reacts best to... So far for him A&D is a no, and Balmex is alright.
