My 2 month old DD has started sleeping overnight...like 9.5 hours. The past week or so when she's woken up in the morning, her lips have that white film (like you get when you're dehydrated). It doesn't appear to be spit up---when it's spit up, she normally has the dried line down her cheek where it spilled over and there's nothing on the sheets either. The last thing she does before she goes to bed (and first thing when she wakes up) is eats (bf or ebm). Her pees are normal...she acts normal other ways. I really do not want to wake her up to feed her.
Any thoughts? Do you think this is ok?

well my DS get a white film on his lips right after he eats because his lips stay wet for so long, maybe you DD is licking her lips a lot in her sleep and that might be th reason her lips look white because of be wet for so long. im not sure, but i would ask the dr. on her next visit

Chloe is two months old and has just begun sleeping through the night too. I was advised that since she is still eating at leaste very 3 hrs while awake and is gaining weight well, she can sleep overnight. She usually is asleep by midnight and awake between 5-9 am.

I spoke to a public health nurse today about my ds and dehydration. She said they are mostly concerned with how many wet diapers the baby is producing in a day. They need to have at least 6 heavy wet diapers. Also she mentioned how baby is acting ... lethargic etc. My DS wont drink much lately. He had 8.5oz in 12 hours today which prompted my phone call. I cannot get him to take anymore. He has anywhere between 5-7 heavy wet diapers a day usually. At the moment I am under instructions that if he dosnt have 3 heavy wet diapers by 2am to go to the ER. We are currently at 2. Hes not sleeping thru the night usually tho and hes 11 weeks on wed. Otherwise tho ... he played in his einstein for a good half hour a little while ago. Cried for a half hour in the car coming home from grammas, he sure dosnt seem lethargic. I have never noticed a white film on his lips tho. The nurse told me not to take what his lips look like for dehydration ... she wanted me to look at the inside of his cheeks in his mouth ... the mucous membrane looking for a wet and a healthy pink colour.

If your concerned I'd give your doc a call, it cant hurt to find out what doc has to say about it.

thanks for the info. She certainly isn't lethargic. I'll check the inside of the mouth. It maybe the bm sitting in her mouth...
