I pay about $875 a month for my 11 month old.....I bring diapers and wipes and bottles, but they provide her formula, all her snacks and meals....I think I really lucked out, though, because most places charge more than what I'm paying, and don't cover food/formula.

I work in a daycare center and for an infant it is $220 a week and you provide diapers and formula and everything else until they are eating table food.

My DD is only in 2 days/week, and we pay $120/week. Seems like a lot - but in fairness to my daycare, you pay based on either 1/4 time, 1/2 time, or full-time, and we have her in 1/2 time, which is 16-25 hours per week. She's only there about 19 hours/week (9.5 hours/day).
We checked out 3 daycares, and one of them was a bit cheaper but we left feeling just "okay" about it. The other one was significantly cheaper but I had MAJOR issues with it - the building was NOT secure - anybody could walk in and walk right into the main play area. The infant/toddler classroom was upstairs - in my mind, safety hazard when toddlers are learning to walk. And the worst was when we toured the facility, a teacher grabbed a toddler by the arm RIGHT IN FRONT OF US and hollered at him. So even though we pay more than we would like to, we have peace of mind knowing that she's getting the best care in our area!

My 11-month old DD just started preschool 2 days a week from 9-2:30. I provide everything except wipes. There are 6 other kids in her class, ages 7 months to 11 months. There are 2 teachers. It's $260 a month.

My mother cares for my daughter 3 days a week and we pay her $35 per day. Before my daughter was born, when we thought we'd have to send her to f/t daycare, I looked into 3 big daycares in my area (not family daycares, daycare centers) and they were all within the $1,000 per month range. One was $250 per week, one was $239 per week and one was $290 per week. Two of them are just local ones, but the most expensive one was Kindercare which I know is a chain. This is the reason I now work part-time and my mom watches her part-time, because it works out about the same and she doesn't have to be in daycare this way.

I pay $691 a month for my soon to be 5 month old. I provide diapers, wipes and formula. Once she eats table food they will provide that. I called one other daycare - it was $1000 a month.

WOW I feel very fortunate- I pay $25 per day so with my little guy being there 5 days a week I pay $500 a month.
He will be 4 months old.

HOLY COW! Seriously my heart just stopped reading these amounts. I have twins so could you imagine??? OK now I feel better about working 3-12hr shifts a week from 7p-7a. That way no daycare. My whole check would go to it!

Most of these amounts seem obscene to me! The country is in a recession! How can people charge $800-$1000 a month for childcare?I don't even make $800 in a month! Insane! I live in Michigan and when I called around for childcare prices, I was hearing $100-$150 per week for full time. So around $400-$500 a month and I thought that was reasonable. I feel sorry for a lot of you who are probably working just to pay daycare...

Yeah, I mean, as I said, that's why I no longer work full-time. With what I was earning when my daughter was born, I was able to pay our mortgage and save money for the future from my salary (my partner paid the household expenses and our health insurance). If we had had to pay $1,000 a month for daycare -- or even $850 a month -- we'd have had to draw out of our savings to cover all our bills anyway.

Wow I feel really blessed after reading these amounts. I pay $85 a week and I provide everything (but that doesn't bother me). He goes from 7 - 3 (but he could stay as long as I need him to be there), M-F because I go to school full time and work too. I only make about $500 a month and I am getting help from different agencies. If it wasnt for that I don't know how we would survive.

Daycare should be paid for by our taxes - just like school. Most other countries it is so. I pay more for daycare than any other expense a month - more than my mortgage... it is insane.

$920 a month full time for an 11 month old, I provide diapers, wipes, formula, they provide milk, solid foods and 2 college certified teachers. Cameras in celieng and a website you can go to to watch your baby while you work. They also provide weekly entertainment and its also a learning center. I think its important for my son to get socilization and interaction even as young as he is so all in all i think its worth it even though there are cheaper places to go.
