Hi everyone!
Technically I am not parenting a newborn yet, but i am expecting my first baby in 5 weeks and was hoping to get some advice on this board.
We have just assembled out cot bed last night and went out to get some bedding for it, that's where we bacame completely lost!
We bought a waterproof mattress protecter, 3 fitted sheets and 2 blankets. The issue is, we are not sure if this is enough bedding to have for a newborn, or if there is anything else we should be buying? I know these are the kinds of things that you work out over time, but I was just hoping to get some advice and a basic guideline from some of the parents on here.
I don't want to over buy and waste money, but I also don't want to have too little bedding and have to be washing what we do have practically everyday!
Thanks so much for any help you can give me, I feel so unsure about everything just now!

Chances are that baby may not be in the bed too much at first, lol. I think the books recommend 3 sheets & 2 protector pads. I preferred to have 5 sheets & 2 protector pads cause those first couple of months are busy enough with a messed up sleep schedule, changing diapers, & keeping up on bottles. Blankets.... I went through them like crazy the first 3 or 4 months. You end up with formula or breastmilk on them, leak through from diapers, spit up & sometimes even your own food, lol. I think by the time mine was 3 months old I had gathered at least 20 blankets! I started out with too much of some stuff though & not enough of others. I would say your best bet is if you buy more of anything just save the receipts & keep the items in the package. That way you have them if you need them but if you don't need them you can always return them. :) Good luck Momma, motherhood is a blast!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
