my tech was right on but we bought gender neutral things mostly just in case. they can't garuntee it, they can only say 'i THINK its a so and so'.

We didn't find out with our son, but did with our daughter. They were right. Basically the tech explained they tell you it's a girl by lack of seeing that it's a boy... So it would be highly unlikely to be told it is a boy and turn out to be a girl. And although it is not common to be told it's a girl and turn out a boy, this way happens more frequently as girls are picked purely based on the lack of male anatomy (which could just be hidden from the ultrasound).

And just to mention, our boy was born at 25 weeks... and quite obviously a boy! So if they are picking it up, I would say it is there :)

My daughter always had her legs crossed when we did ultrasounds, so we didn't find out until delivery.

It turned out to be a good thing that we had neutral colors. Pale greens can create such a peaceful environment for a baby. My daughter preferred those colors over pink.

We went into our level 2 u/s knowing the tech couldn't say "Definitely" one way or another... but she showed us the little parts and said she was about as certain as she'd ever been... and my daughter is definitely a little girl. It was weird, too, because all our midwives, most of our friends, and myself were convinced it was a girl... only my partner and one of her friends thought it was a boy. I couldn't tell you how I KNEW, I just did.

I was told at 11 weeks that it was most likely a boy and it was reconfirmed over and over and in the u/s picture it is fairly obvious that he was boy. I would think at 26 weeks, they could get a decent shot.

it's pretty obvious if it's a boy -- or else there is a tripod in there! hahahah. There is always a slight chance that it's incorrect and it's the unbilical cord they are seeing, but typically that is not the case as much these days. Congrats on being TEAM BLUE!

Our Dr. could see these 3 little lines and told us that without a doubt he knew by these 3 little lines that it was a girl and that was at 18 wks. I had over 25 US and each time they confirmed it she was a girl and you could always see those 3 little lines. It was pretty cool to see.

We have a 3D picture of our 'boy parts' we had 2 u/s techs tell us 'no question!'

I have twin daughters and it was very obvious they were girls at our 18wk u/s. I think its rare these days to get it wrong especially when you are so far along. Congrats on your boy :)

We were told at 17 and 24 weeks we were having a girl and we did. But soooo many people told me stories about how they knew a friend of a friend who was told they were having a boy and had a girl or vice-versa. It totally made me paranoid. And yet you see all the comments on here where the techs were correct. Nowadays the technology is so good, they are rarely wrong in the second or third trimester. At 26 weeks I would be shocked if your tech is wrong. I think you're safe to buy some blue things!

but a friend up to 4 weeks before her due date they said it was a girl but turned to be a boy.

I had the techs check at 18 and 22 weeks, both times they said girl and they were right. The first time, she pointed out the 3 lines and said she was positive without a doubt it was a girl. So mine was correct, however the sister of a girl I worked with was told she was having a girl, only to be surprised with a boy the day of delivery. Not sure how that happened, but it's possible!!

SOOOOO,thats why i ask, wondered if anyones said boy and ended up being a girl :D LOL,, Dont get me wrong i am VERY happy about being on TEAM BLUE AGAIN :D I had just been having pink dreams :D plus im 29 and wanted this to for sure be my last one,but now,maybe not???Thanx again :D

found out at 18 weeks with both my daughter and son. it was very obvious!!
